Hello,
I have a beater aluminium boat with a 175HP SportJet in it. Bought the boat with a toasted motor, I rebuilt it about 2 years ago and it's been running great. I found another toasted Sportjet on CL and picked it up cheap. So I now have a spare block and crank. I had the blocked sleeved to fix the hole that was tore up and the crank was polished and confirmed to be in within spec.
I've also rebuilt the sportjet pump, put a UMHW liner in it, and it has the 4 blade impeller. I was turning about 5500 at WOT before the impeller and wear ring, now I am about 5200 but it jumps out the hole in it's own length.
I want to rebuild the spare motor to get more than 175HP out of it, and I want to put a little more work into balancing the rods and pistons (i didn't do anything to the last motor).
Is there anything that can be done to the block to help the HP? Porting or anything? What carbs should I look for?
Thanks,
Chris
