Could someone send some pictures of a torque tab installed?
Does it go past the skeg or just even and fill it in.

thanks

In most cases you want it flush with the bottom of the skeg- even and filled in. However, on some motors that I've run into the skeg casting has a thicker section at the bottom, probably for less wear when the motor is used for fishing in shallow water. On these motors its a pain to grind the tab to fit flat without a lot of grinding on either the lower unit or the tab, so I usually mount the tab up above the heavy section. Usually running it up around 1/4- 3/8 inch from the bottom of the skeg works. I've run into the heavy section at the bottom on smaller Merc motors from time to time. Haven't noticed any difference on how the tab functions on these smaller motors.

Does it go any nearer to the prop ? or stay level with original part of skeg . I have not seen one in the flesh .

dont look too good with a few self tapping screws. they dont even look flush ha ha .
but I now get the idea of how it goes on.
would it not be better to just Heat and bend the skeg itself at this point, or would that be too weak ?

Just grind the surface with 36 grit and use fiberglass stand filler and form one. I have never attempted to bend a skeg for fear it will break, the casting is fairly porous and seems brittle.
