What's the prevailing opinion on tilting a 300XS all the way up to pull the lower unit out of the water when you are keeping it in overnight (fresh water) assuming the rigging tube and steering hoses are sized to allow it.

Interesting question. On my STV Euro with a 225 I generally raise it enough so that in the event it parts from the mooring (which the way I have it made should never happen) and it comes in on the beach it won't damage the prop or lower. I rarely leave it in overnight but when I do at the camp thats my approach. I never go in salt water. I have never had to worry about discoloration of the exposed aluminum on the lower, maybe lakes with a different water chemistry such as high/low pH that could be a problem.

It's direct injected 2 stroke tilt it as high or low as you want. Carbs I would be more hesitant to tilt any more than needed.

We camp every year and boat stays in water with motor down for week at a time. Never a problem.

I leave mine in, even if overnight in salt water which is my boats primary use. I do trim the motors out of the water when I leave the boat docked on the Suwannee just to keep debris from wrapping in the props
