Are these motors worth rebuilding? I have an opportunity to buy one that runs but low compression. Any recommendations on best person to rebuild it? Its on a 20" offshore mid. Also will the flywheel and ignition system fit on a 2.4 xri 200 efi motor? Would the horn injection work on the xri? Are they the same block? Just Bridgeports make the difference?

ya,I would rebuild it with 6 steel sleeves, and save the cost of nicasil,if you aren't a racer,,it will still turn 7k all day,and give you the horn front, you can put a simon 55amp alternator system on it,,call john marles at US1 he's out there in Cal,and has all the parts and info you need

Any of you guys have any idea if 2.4 and 2.5 flywheels are interchangable? I've got a light 2.5L flywheel but will be running a 2.4 now.

Yes they will, but you must keep the stator size the same,16amp with a 16 amp flywheel, and 40 with a 40 ect

The Bridgeport and the xri have different front halves so swapping injection will involve swapping fronts. Blocks are not the same. The Bridgeport has a wider exhaust port with a bridge and the xri does not.

Awesome, thank you for your input, I hadn't considered the matching amp sizes so I'm glad you mentioned that! Thanks again!

putting six sleeves in at one time has to be way more expensive than new nic, I understand people doing one or two at a time but if you need that many re nic the sucker IMO.

Six sleeves at the same time,vs new nic is about a wash cost wise.Depends on your wants and needs for the engine. The newer cast Pistons can go 7000+ so a steel sleeve BP could be strong, but care must be taken in the build,or it will surely fail.clearence, clearance, clearence!!
