relays for trim

I have an old black max with the trim switch right on the motor, i'm removing the power head and throwing on a different one, I tried using the standard 2 relays that sit down in the cowl , but they are not working, do I need to remove the engine mounted relay that were with the black max to be able to use the switch on motor, and helm switch? there is nowhere to mount it on new power head, the coils are all in the way, where the other relay was mounted on the black max head. thanks for any help!

I rewired my tilt/trim and just mounted the relays inside the boat.

I grabed the old ones from the black max that were mounted between the coils on the old powerhead and half ass mounted them to the new powerhead, grounded to the starter and now it works! guess Ill have to maybe mount it in the boat and re route the wires
