I have been researching some new accelerometers for a non-marine project and I can't help but think there would be a great safety application for racers.

The technology that is used in aircraft for attitude control is now available in components that combine 2 axis accelerometers onto chips that are easy to use. I would think that some pretty serious accidents could be prevented by sensing the attitude of the boat and responding with trim or throttle adjustments - perhaps quicker than a human could. Auto throttle is a bit of a scary concept, in all but the worst situation but trim control might be reasonable.

Is this worth even looking into? If it makes perf boating safer, good, right?

Could this be used with a gauge to visually monitor boat attitude from the cockpit?
