In one of my ongoing outboard projects, ive been getting a '75 merc 1500 ready for the water.im nearly there save some wiring obstacles. it currently uses the original style plug that plugs into the side of the cowling. the boat its going on uses the 8 pin cannon plug.i have thought hard on the CDI adapter cable, but am unconvinced (part# 421-4401). the old motor could really use a rewire anyways, so im considering all new wiring with the appropriate plug. does anyone know if cdi makes a universal engine side harness? or did mercury ever release a tower of power with a canon plug and if so would that harness work with an older tower? thanks everyone for their time and ideas!
