1994 promax 200

Been trying to get a poor performance/overly rich problemmsorted.I'm seeing 45 psi at startup on the muffs in my driveway (cheap HF gauge). Service manual says to replace the regulator. Is there anything else that can contribute to the high pressures other than the reg? Already done New tank to pulse pump hose, new water separator, cleaned vst filters.

45 psi ????? man that is a lot.
what is the actual recommended for that motor ? I am surprised none of the popes blow off at 45 psi.

36-39 is the recommended pressure range. I've got everything on the high pressure side clamped down with oeitiker clamps so that may be helping things not leak. I'm hoping I don't have to buy yet another fuel gauge (this would be the third) but thinking I might to confirm my reading.

Filter on the injectors or return line clogged. (if your motor has one) ? My 3.0 EFI mercs have one and have done this causing the motor to flood and run real rich. Look your motor up on a parts site to see using ser #. jm2cts

I believe there is a screen in the regulator. Recently we had a promax in the shop with 65 lbs pressure. Kev cleaned the screen and solved that problem than on to the next:D

Cleaned the final filter and it definitely runs better on the muffs, and doesn't load up like it did when I rev the motor. Of course, my pressure gauge crapped out when screwing it on to the schrader valve so not sure what my current pressure looks like. Hopefully taking to the lake this weekend.
