Mercury 2.5 question

1995 mercury 2.5 200 xri, burnt up my bottom rectifier this weekend would that cause my motor to lose mph and rpm? Two yellow wires going to the rectifier are burnt bad what cause this issue? No other issues besides this one.

Is it burnt at the bullet connectors? If so normally caused by poor contact in connectors causing excessive resistance and making heat. The bullet connectors are garbage.

Yep bullet connectors are burnt

Probably fried the regulator too, they are sensitive to voltage spikes. I would change regulator and new connectors. Wouldn't hurt to check stator also just in case to make sure it didn't get damaged.
