Ok, I have done some searches on decarbon. I'm new to the O/Bs. I have read about the shock treatment in a smaller aux can and the fuel filter method. I have a 31 fountain cc with twin 250efi's. This is my 3 season on the boat and when a brought it, it had a can of merc quickleen in one of the compartments. But it has a 200 gallon main tank so I picked up another can and dumped it in. That was during the first season. I haven't done any additives since. So hears the thing, when I turn the key on I hear what I'm thinking is the fuel/lift pump in the tank come on for like 5 seconds. So I'm thinking the fuel line is pressureized ,so I'm not sure if the tank method will work?. So I'm thinking the fuel filter method. I have the filter on the motor and a larger water/fuel in the bilge for each motor. Would I fill both filters in series with seafoam or just the one in the bilge?. I'm thinking both for a good decarbon, but will that be to much?. I don't know if its to much will it stall out and have to drain it out to get a restart?. I'm also thinking of just filling the larger one in the bilge and hoping to get out of the marina with the gas that's in the smaller one and the @ 8ft of fuel line before it starts to smoke bad?. My main tank is down to like 75 gallons and I just brought a gallon of seafoam. I was wondering if I should just dump the gallon in the 75 gallons and skip the shock. That would be like 2 oz a gallon and keep adding as I get fuel. When I fuel I get 100 gallons at a time so that would be a gallon again. I run rec fuel and was running penns xlf,but just switched to koltz. Any thoughts?. Thanks tom.
