Going up I 75 north as I was headed home 2 38-40 foot non descript v hulls in dark gray paint with odd black striping, looked to be #5's on the back. They were loaded up stern first on flat beds. They appeared to be Hustler or Apache but the paint was something like what maybe the Feds used for drug boats maybe? They were going north as I was going south so I couldn't get any pics.

There was a place North of Brunswick Ga. called FLETC (pronounced flea tech) for Federal Law Enforcement Training Center that had some boats similar to that if I remember right. There were several different configurations and dthey were painted gray with black striping, maybe even with a little blue around the black somewhere. There were some drug seized boats there and a friend at Merc said they'd buy the best money could buy to re rig 'em for the boyz to go and "train" on the intercoastal. Rumor had it that the "training" included certain necessary drills like machine gunning alligators. That was 25 or 30 years ago and I don't know if the place still exists.

FLETEC is alive and well in Brunswick.Feds keep the boats @ 2 way fishing camp on the Altamaha river. Most of the chase boats are Contenders and RIBs.Years ago they ran a bunch of comfiscated boats, motors, etc at the auction in Brunswick. The Blue Thunder cats went cheap.

I saw 5 or 6 of them last year here in Tampa at the Gandy ramp one day- Fed boats was my first thought also.

Don't need confiscated boats any more. Now they have tons of money from Homeland Security. The city of Bridgeport Ct had a VERY difficult time spending all the money they got for a boat. They finally solved it with a $30,000 luxury interior upgrade.

There's a guy down here building fast intercept boats for coastal work. Called Infidel's. They run twin verado's and are flat grey. Sells them all over the world. 32 footers.....Fairly quick and able to run in the ruff with shock absorbing seats etc....Our local waters are overrun with cop boats of all kinds. Haulin ass and burning gas every day.
