What lower unit is this ? I thought it was an xr4 but read somthing makes me think different . . Was there a small case xr6 that was made ?

I don't know enough to tell you how to tell them apart but XR-4 and some XR-6 came with small cases, and they are different.
Thats all i got. I'm trying to remeber and relearn what I used to know about these cases currently.

XR4 case 4 1/4" 1.78:1 gears, not sure on XR6 but think they had the bigger case with 1.87:1 gears.

The early XR-6 had a small but stronger case than the XR-4, later XR-6 had the 200 style 1.87 lower.

see where tha bob's sticker is?.. think tha 4 has tha tail of tha down housing that stops even (or close) ta tha same as tha end of tha cav plate.. would make that one a 6... one or tha other?.. been awhile.
jan... last coupla yrs of tha 4 had tha 6 gear cases on 'em.

The XR4 cavitation plate stops at the tail. The XR6 extends about 2" back. The one pictured is an XR6. I'd be interested in it if you were thinking of selling. Pm me if so
