Hi All,
I'm new to the forum. I'm from South Africa I have been a powerboat fanatic pretty much since i was born.
I grew up close to competitive skiing, wakeboarding and offshore inflatable boat racing (Zapcats and Thundercats).
A few years back I unearthed my late fathers 1963 Johnson 5.5 and began restoring it. I've also done several other projects.
My brother and I have recently started with our late grandfathers 1965 Malibu ( It is a fiberglass boat, very similar to a Glastron Futura. )
She has a 1965 Mercury 1000, which after assessment we decided we would swop out for a later model Merc in-line 6,so we can have the benefit of power trim and tilt and IC ignition. We will transfer the 65 model, Cowells and livery to retain the original look.
I look forward to sharing our journey with the outboard restoration and fixes. We love the inline sixes, we grew up with them. We will be grateful for your knowledge and experience shared.
