Hello! I'm trying to find out more information about my Father's Pabst hydroplane, Sid-Craft runabout and Mercury Mark 20H and was wondering if anyone here knows about these boats and where I can find more information or if anyone knows someone else that they could put me contact with. My Father is getting too old to run this boat anymore and we are potentially looking for a buyer depending on what they are worth.
My Father got a hydroplane in the mid-'60s that was built by Pabst probably in the '50s. He never got this boat in the water but it was raced by the previous owner. I believe it's all original and still feels quite smooth when I was cleaning the dust off. I was actually quite surprised how smooth it felt after all these years. I have more pictures below of the hydroplane and have additional pictures on flickr here -> https://flic.kr/s/aHskYAWMrP (https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fflic.kr%2Fs%2FaHskYAWMrP&h=ATMwx_KKjIdS8hhv8eJFktGdYACc_OfL4LZiHqBj06UUHhIZ6JQHTR1pSuYQlQCwNmxoscYbbUP18cvdekWfoyfLgGkqBP7did 1zUrHBHqvfwW0Bk41_hKqB1u1a3XL8J7_TtA3BOd4mrIjyYbM&enc=AZN-f8LY_Gn-a8_Rz5mNza_yqz6GE3ZcV3lDSwtdlYJFYSDgGiut6gb4JJhczfvesfCcJM2jW5zpfRGXkA617A1lAvLalddq6Sub5t2pJ1V8NjWw 1UAwrWT9cib4P_v_l6lIkUl2g7b24AD0c49-aFOGEtXqiz4CoUu9hEwgRho-wA&s=1)
He also has a Sid-Craft runabout. This boat he actually raced and ran it quite a few times. The pictures I took of the runabout below with more on flicker here -> https://flic.kr/s/aHskYANRgD (https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fflic.kr%2Fs%2FaHskYANRgD&h=ATNQu1cvpufv05UCo1dkkkj-Clbe4jresRWHceXsvZEEjRpGejDzBNjgYZ9CrjB8sk000tjte9z69IDWNB8KL0MObQpsxcMLjfs9ux0qPOyItw4Tcd4WQDT1Qbqm bdsUIi9IX8DMdZSX7AKa9UM&enc=AZMVZ68kX_Ou7q3Q0qPM0Y9-m8qTFFuoHLcsogk99Tof9OPErjEf5-jRmRljgdvPGMAcduLFHgm65OUk4f9M61kyPTzCjeXhyK-27IKpxhDCwcn4gTbjDAI3rkOR6iDBUCbjj5YMNDEKjmRpLCWNvUKhQ8CNELDZ6jT1jQMgTCyWkw&s=1)
He ran the Sid-Craft with his Mercury Mark 20H. He bought the exhaust conversion kit which he calls 'the howler' but I believe some guys call it the corn popper. He does still have all the original parts so it could be converted back to the stock exhaust. A couple pictures of the Mecury Mark 20H on flickr here -> https://flic.kr/s/aHsm3Q6hMi (https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fflic.kr%2Fs%2FaHsm3Q6hMi&h=ATPrDcx41gCJS2yQKz5DiKAVoHmBGrWdFb_tK_TAyh75fVpC61vlsW9W_AtKk2uxekQC9D_T8ONP69y9KbOTVK_N_H9t7FKwv1 vhF4vI9Q-V_h8HN9wm95OnW4E2-jxXCMmK-5iPkgzi-awE9Qo&enc=AZMV-x8i-wx_BRdIzYG_PR-zN2Tg94kwOkNiaWyFRg9Ztxtg7hqa21mnD-AO3abOtzmPbzCf793I30TR3QAR62c3KZXW2n-KxndXdOWen9YM1pd_hC7Pfk5OV81Se-lRE8bpKXzvpWG7E-nRhnKrQs4Y1NSqGNbER_UH9FB7WbFM8w&s=1)
He last registered the Sid-Craft in 1969 and the next year he had his first born child. His racing ended then and the boats went into storage. All this gear has been stored in his garage for the past 48+ years and hasn't seen much direct sun or any water. He had them hanging from supports from the rafters in the garage and the motor was mounted on a board by it's mounting bracket. So they were well stored and taken care of.
Does anyone know anything about these boats or motor?
Thanks!
jason
