I need to replace the bunks on my Cougar trailer as one is rotten, so I may as well replace both of the 2" x 10" by 12 feet long. I am looking for a source for good quality bunk carpet that will work. Most of the pre-cut stuff is not long enough. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I also need to replace the plywood that goes on the inner fender that is carpeted as well. They are 12" x 68", so something that is 18" wide would probably work well. Please let me know of any suppliers that you have used or know of.
Thanks
Gary

I wouldn't use carpet as it holds water and sand. Plastic lumber (Azek is one) or plastic glides made for bunks both work great over pressure treated bunks. Also I just replaced the plywood on the inside of a trailers fenders with aluminum and carpet ( hull doesn't rest on them). Only use wood if its PT. Hope this helps....Gary

Go to yur local firehouse and try to get some retired fire hose. Its awesome for bunk material. Will never wear out, the right amount of grip, and rubber backed.

Great idea, my trailers are used quite often and this would hold up nicely , guess I'll be making a stop to see what the local departments have

THe hose is actually a hose in a hose so you get twice as much as you think. Cut it with tin snips or heavy shears. If you cut it lengthwise you get frayed edges along the cuts and you cant melt it like nylon. Its fireproof. Use it whole or roll the edges under and staple.
I did this trailer and a thread on THT. Lots of pics.

Had to do new wood on the Cougar trailer which was 2 x 10's. If I remember the 2 x 10's are 22inches total wrap around. I also used SS staple fastners

Use Monel staples. Home Depot carries them. Better than stainless.
