The 16SS had a round bottom. The only Sidewinder with a pad was the 14SS and it is just a delta pad and is 7" across at the back.

Making a pad First you need to say what are your expectations and hope it will do ,
what and how the boat will be used ?? !
do you expect it to be a go fast ??
or just a good everyday kind of ski boat??
and how many people do you carry most of the time ??
in all reality have you thought about trim tabs ??

That photo is a step wouldn't have dome much if !anything

Chine walking AT 40 MPH ?? could be even worst with a pad !! what is the top speed !!
Playing with a pad sure as hell isn't going to fix it from chine walking !! ,
sounds like the motor wants the whole set up looking into and also !!,
so how you trim your motor ??
never forgetting balance of the whole boat !!

Need lots photos please of the motor and the set up to look at heights and trim etc etc !!

Hi Tunnels
Top speed is around 42 (thats with her with a 85 V4 ohnson)if i can keep the chine walk under control.
I will take lots of photos at the weekend. I would really appreciate any help on setting the boat up.

Chine walk can be a symptom of loose steering. Try this: Either lock down the steering wheel or have some one hold it firmly then you go to the stern and try forcing the engine side to side. See how much movement you can induce. Even a couple of degrees can create a harmonic back-and-forth movement as torque loads and unloads the steering. You may not notice it while driving as you are fighting the chine walking on plane. Even loose or worn motor mounts on some engine designs can create enough of a shudder or vibration at speed that chine walking may develop. It may not be the whole problem on your boat but it is certainly something to work to reduce or eliminate as a contributory cause.
