I don't know how to put all 3 pages on one post so I'll have to put this on 3 different posts. Pretty true though when you think about it. :D

And the thing about all of that, some of those very same people are the ones that are causing so much PC trouble now.

a guy would have got the crap kicked out of him if his friends saw him in one. now days it has to have warning labels all over it(pretty much everything). stupid people blame the product or home owner or anybody else because they dont understand the concept of responsibility for your own actions. "help im to dumb to help myself" like the guy who tried to trim his hedges with his push lawnmower and cut his finger tips off when he picked it up from the deck. he won in court. just not right . should have been thrown out of court on reasons of stupidity.

the worlds goin' to ****. Every one of those things apply to me though, I have a picture of my Mom holding me after wiping out her '69 Chevelle (no car seat), standing on the tailgait (4 of us) of a guys truck and hanging on to the topper while he tried to bounce us off haulin' a$$ through the woods, a small outboard motor in the back of his truck bounced loose and hit us all across the legs. we were about 10-12 at the time and laughin' are asses off (instead of suing). Me and my brother would go play and my Mom and Dad would set boundaries not to cross (they were about 6 square miles) no helmets on bikes or football. And a broken tooth to show for it all. Parents would say call me after school and let me know where you are, and that was about the only rule. Would hate being a kid these days.

In the words of William Shakespear "Kill all the lawyers"
Just look what "civil law" has done to us all :(

I feel bad for my daughter, She doesn't have the freedom that I did, I keep a close eye on her whereabouts, times have become worst since we were kids. Your right we use to be able to roam freely without worring about perverts and idiots. I and her talk about it sometimes, when she wants to do things I won't allow her to do. I tell her that with all my heart I wish I could let her run like I did as a kid but it just isn't safe, I wish that she could go for two mile walks, be out exploring the world at her own pace, but she means to much to me to let her explore unguarded from those that might cause harm her, I let her explore as much as it is possible but it isn't like we all use to do. that fact saddens me, that she isn't able to experince things with the freedom that we all did.
I use to get up, eat a bit of breakfast and be gone all day till dark, when I would come home for supper, My friends and I would make forts in the woods, turn sink holes into our own personal swimming pools, walk a mile from one friends house to another, hitchhike to the store for some candy or to play the pin ball machine, take day long bike rides, just for something to do, Ride our horses and dirt bikes where ever we had a notion to go.
Explore caves, which were just dry sink holes. Play in the limestone pit. Go snake hunting or bird watching. We were creative for our entertainment.

It just isn't the same these days and I think she misses out on a great experince :( :(

MMMMMM mmmmmmmm good.... Gotta love that lead-based paint.

All in all, it was a better time, but I do know a few people that crashed on their head too many times....

BTB, I know whatcha mean, I have two kids of my own, and it sucks that the only free roaming they can do is in their own yard. Breaks my heart not to turn 'em loose.:(

I just told mine to go and run... After all, it's easy and cheap to make replacements...

what really sucks is when your children are approaching 40 and you`re still chasing your dream and you wonder if you should just grow up(old),but what fun would that be???IMHO

I tell my kids (4) of the way things use to be, when you could sleep with your windows open and didn't have to worry about the guy living next to you being a damn axe murderer or rapist, my oldest, even at 16, doesn't understand just how sick some people are in this melting pot we live in, he thinks I watch him a little too close, but when he's 40 with children of his own he'll thank me, I hope. Love them while your here, because none of use are promised another day on this rock, I've already lost both of my brothers and I know all too well how short life really is! Now with all that out of the way, Jaco's where's my Damn motor, I'm ready to RUMBLE!

Hey some are still trying! I talked to some friends at my lake this winter and they told me a story... There was about a foot of ice on the lake, but it has springs in it too. Someone living around there come down the road in a old minivan pulling two kids on sleds with ropes...and went right out on the lake driving all over, kids just a flying. Stopped out there and took a break, then went back to it for a couple hours. The thing died out there, then they got it going again and left. Don't ever remember a car out there, heck the lake has hardly froze for a few years. I bet it was fun though:)
