Thanks Rotary John

Looks like Scotti did race an Evinrude Rotary in Windermere 1973.

The OMC Rotary racing engines invaded Windermere, UK 1973 with four Evinrude/Johnson boats. Many new pictures.

OMC SOLD HIGH-PERFORMANCE RACE ENGINES TO EXPERIENCED, QUALIFIED DRIVERS

In 1976, OMC released the new Evinrude CCC & Johnson SR (Special Racing) V6 high-performance race engines. They were 90 degree, 3.5 inch bore, 2.588-stroke, 149.4 cubic inch crossflow engines based on the 200/235 hp production V6 powerhead. The only difference in these two was the hood, color and brand graphics. These were highly-modified versions of the stock production engines with special internal parts, porting, heads, flywheels, custom racing center sections and gear cases. Operating range was from 6800 to 7200 rpms with an 8-to-1 compression ratio. Racing features included a 12-degree hydraulic power trim and a one-inch hydraulic lift adjustment. Several steel clever-type props were available, from 11 x 18 through 11 x 22.
The CCC & SR were built from 1975 to 1981 in very limited quantities and in a number of variations including: 149 and 160 cubic inch blocks, different porting, heads, pistons, cranks and carbs.
(Some photos show the Johnson decal as RS – Racing Special)

FYI - Jack & others
Jack's comment (Some photos show the Johnson decal as RS – Racing Special) is correct for most of the US & Europe Market Place. - note that Johnson race engine covers have straight lines bottom to top where the CCC turned inward at the top. The "SR" really had me confused when I started restoring the CCC & RS engines for APBA's Vintage & Historic events. I was told that the "SR" (Special Racing ??) was used for the Australian Market Place as "RS" in Aus. had some kind of bad connotation. Don't know what that was.

I see they now have the RS decal set available

Thanks Roger..
You are so polite..:)..
..but the fact is when OMC 1976 released the new Evinrude V6 CCC/Johnson V6 RS (the 2.448 liter cross-flow race engine) there was never an SR..only reason for saying SR is because down under RS stands for something else..!!..(Rat ****)..:)
I raced a 3 cylinder Johnson RS in Paris 1976 (boat #47 second picture) and a V6 2 liter Johnson RS in Milan, 1978. (boat #29 third picture)

I’ve been to quite a few memorials, but have never seen anything like this one. Over 600 people from all over the world here to celebrate the absolutely insane, crazy, wild life of Fearless Foster. Even managed to fit back into my race shirt that I haven’t worn since I was 13 And had Mason wearing the one from when I was 5 or 6.
What a tribute.

Only raced an SE boat a couple of times at the local Caribbean Club races. Had to get used to driving a smaller cube motor, keeping it revving an on a plane around the corners and lack of acceleration. But it was a fun boat to drive belong to my buddy Andy Wiggers when he would come down to the races in Amberjack

They were about 8 MPH faster than the production SST-60 on a capsule boat.

So on the subject of polished crankcases, maybe I can get a clarification from people who know here. When I was racing 3cyl. V bottoms I built a 49 cu in 75 and hand ported it. While I had the engine apart I polished the inside of the crankcase and I mean it was shiny. Before I put the engine together a couple of people told me that a shiny crankcase in a 2 stroke would be detrimental to the fuel charge as it swirled through the engine. So I went back and bead blasted the gloss off before putting it back together. The engine was a strong runner. But I never did find out who was correct on this subject. Were factory race engines shiny throughout the inside?

Actually a rough surface would be better. It creates a boundary layer just above the crankcase surface. Think about a golf ball for a moment. All those divits molded into its exterior are there for a reason. Same thing for layered feathers on a bird.

The last time Velden had tobacco sponsorship in the USA was the Kool sponsorship in 1985. Series sponsorship started to die in the late 80's. A couple of teams were fortunate enough to have funding for the whole season while the rest of us traveled race to race to be assigned local sponsors for the weekend (barely enough to cover expenses?) Vinyl graphics came in handy back then. Of course the front runners got the event pick of the litter while the back markers got the crumbs.

This is stuff we had to deal with looking for sponsorship with a Swedish license..Yes..I tried but could not get them for a full sponsorship deal because most of the races was outside Sweden.

Hi Lars, not an expert at posting.
I got the Evinrude Offshores from with the JW Marriot Skater. It looks almost identical to your triple skater. That is the manual that they gave me with the hand written shop notes from Alex who built the twin plug heads and also the shops notes for the twin pinion shiftable lowers to make them legal for racing. Had a great time with them but they were way over my head for mechanical tuning. I did have the a prop shaft break and we machined Mercury replacement to allow me to ruin mercury props.
Thanks

I can't recall ever seeing Velden run anything but Johnson and likewise with Molinari running just Evinrude. I have a vague memory of Sacramento CA 1985 with Spalding running Evinrude? Salabert was Johnson only. Who at OMC decided on which driver got which brand? Marketing potential? The Mercury / Mariner mix in the 80s was completely bizarre.

In 1973 whilst Velden & Molinari were still Merc pilots, (and before they eventually became team OMC members) James Bond was driving Evinrude --- 50 years ago.

Regarding OMC V6 advertising.

“Our ring design allows combustion pressure to push the rings close to the cylinder walls”.

I am skeptical about this selling point, and it being legit mechanically. The rings pushing away from the piston’s circumference outward towards the cylinder wall.

And, if the rings do such, then surely, there will be combustion leakage between the piston rings & the piston grooves. Negating “power from leaking out”.

In my opinion OMC never told any driver to pick Johnson or Evinrude..It was more up the the drivers choice..for a number of reasons.

Evinrude cowls...McConnell, Woods, May, Scotti, Pelster, Molinari, Larson, Strom, Herring

Johnson cowls...Posey, Witt, Sanders, Nordskog, Velden, Spalding, Robertson, Thibidaux (spell)

Peter Thornywork would run both. Percival too. Seems Clive Hook and Alf Bullen ran Evinrudes.

OMC always ran Evinrudes on the straightaway record boats. Not sure why they did not want to use Johnson for that.

OMC always ran Evinrudes on the straightaway record boats. Not sure why they did not want to use Johnson for that.

Its pretty good Mark Poole ModVP

I finally found the picture..see Cees Van Der Velden did race an Evinrude V6 Super Strangler a few times. 1975/76

Roger Jenkins won the sprint UIM OE Class World Championship title 1975 driving his Burgess/Johnson to victory in Aix-les-Bains, France.
So, when Roger Jenkins won the UIM F1-V8 World title series 1982 in his Burgess/Evinrude V8 he is one of very few being a World Champion with both Johnson and Evinrude.

I believe that was 1969 as Jimbo took my place in 1970 co-driving with my Paris co-driver, Ron Hill. I couldn’t get the time off from work so Jimbo took my place, they won. It hurt not being there.
in 1971 won I was leading Berlin & broke at about the 2 hour mark drifting in to East Germany where gun boats were patrolling. Got picked up just in time by a race pick up boat before the patrol boat got to me. CRAZY experience.

I will attempt to attach a picture from Berlin 1970 with Jimbo at the wheel, Ron Hill was his co-driver. You can see on the dash his name above Jimbo's. Same boat Ronnie & I drove in Paris. The medallions were given to all registered drivers just as the flags were at Paris. I will also try to attach a picture of my 1971 medallion, can't find my 1972. It seems the T*A*R*T team entry in 72 was there but we didn't actually race as the water was extremely rough.

The Day OMC’s CEO Charles D. Strang Got Kicked Off The Dock..!!

It was a case of mistaken identity that time when a security guard forced the CEO off the dock at a boat race. Who knew this older gentleman in the big straw sun hat, wearing his trousers high and a camera around his neck like a tourist, was in fact the man paying for the race. He wasn’t wearing the required credentials. And so, despite his protestation, Charles D. Strang, CEO of Outboard Marine Corporation, was escorted off the starting dock just before his fleet of Johnson- and Evinrude-powered Formula 1 tunnel boats blasted off with a howl of two-stroke horsepower.
The old man was pissed.
This now-humorous incident is one of the memories I have of Charlie Strang, who died in March at age 96. Well-known to industry insiders, Strang never had the public name recognition of more flamboyant personalities like Evinrude or Kiekhaefer or Aronow, but his impact on pleasure boating was profound. In 1947, Strang sketched out a design for a sterndrive while working as a research associate at MIT. In 1951, he became director of research at Kiekhaefer Mercury and immediately showed his idea to Carl Kiekhaefer, who thought he was nuts. Strang then conspired with others to produce the sterndrive behind Kiekhaefer’s back, which resulted in the 1959 introduction of the Volvo Penta Aquamatic, the original inboard/outboard. Strang’s improved design debuted as the original MerCruiser in 1961 (Kiekhaefer changed his mind). Strang jumped to OMC as director of marine *engineering in 1966 and retired as board chairman in 1993.
Strang loved outboard racing and was instrumental in getting the Johnson and Evinrude brands back into competition in 1967. Previous leadership considered racing a waste of money. Strang saw it as a testing ground. He directed the creation of the U.S. Formula 1 series that ran from 1984 to 1990, heavily supported by OMC to showcase the 3.5-liter V-8 racing outboards.
I was the most junior OMC PR buckaroo in 1985 when Strang was booted from a floating dock prior to the Chattanooga Grand Prix. Strang enjoyed the perks of his position and would fly in on race day aboard the OMC King Air. One of my tasks was to set up the boss’s rented motor home parked in the pits. I got the air conditioning blasting, set out a packet of news clippings documenting our PR efforts, and arranged fresh fruit and chilled white wine for his secretary at the time, Barbara.
After being kicked off the dock, Strang stewed in the motor home and then refused to sign the purse checks until someone was fired. He finally settled down and signed. Before the next race, however, race director Barry Caris and I prepared wanted posters with Strang’s visage — in his straw hat — that were distributed to all personnel with the message “This man needs no credentials and can go anywhere he wants.” No more mistaken identity.

That would be Canada's Tom Henderson, running with Bob Thompson's team in Toledo, Ohio, 1986, for the last race off the 1986 season. I recognize his brothers, Dave (front L in the white hat ) and (Peter, I believe) next to the Velden.

With the water getting rougher as the race wore on, Tom's powerhead appeared to be loosening from its mounts, ultimately causing the boat to stuff and split in two, near the cockpit. Without radios in those days, a driver would not have known what was causing this handling issue. While onlookers on shore hoped for the best, it wasn't long before the mid broke and Tom's race was over... fortunately, Tom wasn't hurt.

A few seconds after the picture above was taken..
Carlo Maria Columbo in his #161 Martini/Molinari boat and #21 Totip/Velden with driver Guido Caimi took off up in the air..Not sure if they touched or not but it was a bad flip for both driver. Sadly we lost Guido Caimi and Carlo Maria Columbo was in critical condition.
He survived but never raced again.
This was the day before Guido Caimi's birthday.
I was watching the accident with my dad Roland Strom and his wife Gunilla. My dad looked at me and said..
Son..are you really going to race F1-V8 next year..and I answered Yes..
The UIM F3 class was racing also and I needed to get ready for my heat race.

The Milano GP 1982 was one of very few races my dad Roland came to watch me racing.
After the very sad accident in the first F1-V8 heat it was time for the UIM F3/OE class.
First is a few pictures of the Velden/Totip boat after the accident and you can see my dads wife Gunilla also.
Next is me and my dad Roland.
OMC's Rick McChesney and me talking next to my red pickup truck and Gunilla in the cab.
Last picture is my #1 Burgess/Evinrude CC getting ready for the wet pit.

I did have some technical issues with my boat in the race..don't remember much else from the race except it was a very sad weekend.

The perfect place for fast boat racing.

Idroscalo next to the Linate airport in Milan, Italy was in my opinion the most wonderful place for boat racing. I raced there many times in different UIM classes.

WE GOT LETTERS

Typically, you feel blessed if someone says, ”nice catalog cover.” In this case, however, we got dozens of letters. Gorgeous! Beautiful! Fantastic! WOW! Apparently, however, they weren’t referring to the outboard since they also asked: What’s her name? Where does she live? What’s her phone number? (Like we would actually tell anyone that.)
Few Johnson catalog covers ever received that much attention! I can’t imagine what the response would have been in the internet age.
Anyway, it was a… ‘nice cover.’

Well..the powerhead with Merc carbs was used by Barry Woods in the Cardiff ON World Championship race..(old news) Cees raced it earlier 1975.
Cees himself was racing the first ever looper 2 liter V6 by OMC.. with the new 12 inch (CCC) mid section. Yes..Cees won big and probably the best race ever I have watched..
This was the powerhead Jimbo won the Miami race a few weeks earlier but used Methanol for the Cardiff ON World Championship race.

Not sure how many 'pickle-fork' Scottis were built (my guess is not many?) but this one was still very competitive even in 1976.

I remember Tom Wood drove one here in Canada in I think 1977 or 1978.

Hmmm................if Scotti lost his life in 1974, who continued to run the shop afterwards? Were the pickle fork boats conversions? When you look at this photo, that would have been a heck of a lot of work just to get rid of a little lift (nose cowl, air fences, center deck, etc). I wonder if OMC V6 power had anything to do with the change? Only way you could get a new Scotti hull in the USA back in the day was thru Barry Woods. Another question...........I can't remember seeing a Scotti hull with Merc power either?

(Some of pictures used is from me I got from my friend in Norway. He was in Koblenz)
Sealed engine cover etc..This race was a week or two before the Paris 6 Hour race same year.

OMC went straight to Paris with the new V6.. (Two Johnson V6 and one Evinrude V6)..the 1973 Paris result was brutal for Merc...!!
The new Johnson 2 liter V6 was first and second in Paris 1973..Third was an OMC V4..

I am trying to figure out what year the picture above from OMC Belgium is..

First..its probably just before Paris 6 hours…..

1973 Sanders won with a Johnson V6.
1974 Sanders drove the Johnson Rotary.
1975 Sanders drove a Johnson V6 so I can’t figure the year out.
In my memory Sanders never drove a Evinrude V6 Super Stranger in the Paris race..???

More lamp info....

Hi Lars,
Most of the retirement lamps were made from the production 25hp (split) gearcase, mounted upside down. Many/most of them were made by the crew at the Stuart Test Center.
In addition to Don Henrich's lamp, I am aware of two other lamps that were made from a 45SS gearcase, mounted upside down.
Jack Leek's lamp was made from the early 45SS design, which was smaller in size and did not go into production.
See attached photo.

I witnessed Marlboro money at the Embassy Bristol race in England 1973.
Cigarette girls dressed in Marlboro colors were passing out sample (I think they were free, I don't smoke) packets of Marlboro cigarettes.

Cees vander Verden had the Marlboro sponsorship, and at that race Bob Spalding & Tom Percival had the JPS cigarette sponsorship.

Now its getting more interesting...
Here is why.. later 1976 Velden switched from Johnson to Merc just a few days before Paris 6 Hours 1976.
(I am pretty sure this happened because Renato signed with OMC for the 1977 season)

The first picture #92 Cees Velden/Marlboro/Merc is in Paris 6 hours 1976. His co-pilot was Billy Seebold..!! I got this unique Paris picture from my Italian friend. (Thanks)

Sadly Paris 1976 was the last UIM race for Velden with Marlboro..he lost the sponsorship but signed with Drakkar for the 1977 season.

EVINRUDE BOAT SHOW DREAM BOATS

Between 1956 and 1962, Evinrude commissioned seven distinct and exotic ‘concept boats’ (aka Dream Boats) designed by Brooks Stevens for display at national boat shows. Of those seven, three are the most exotic and the most expensive to build at over $100,000 each in today’s money. They are: the Flying Saucer Boat, Heli-Bout helicopter-like boat and Jetstream dual sponson boat. I’ll post the background stories of each concept later - but let’s start with what is arguably the most exotic – the Heli-Bout.
EXOTIC #1- Pictured below is the Brooks Stevens designed 'concept boat’ aptly named the Heli-Bout – a 16-foot runabout combined with the principle of a helicopter. The 75hp Evinrude Starflite V4 outboard was reportedly linked to the rotor by flexible shafting and reduction gears. Staying on theme, the cockpit instrumentation was similar to a two-place fixed wing aircraft of the time. (photo upper left.)
This far-out creation was an example of Stevens' imagination given free reign by Evinrude to demonstrate what the future of boating could possibly hold. With an Evinrude outboard motor and an electric rotor for display rotation, the Heli-Bout lets your imagination run wild. “Popular Science” reported in April 1962, that theoretically, boat owners could fly from their back yard and land on their favorite lake instead of using the highway. How cool would that be!
WHERE IS IT NOW? The Heli-Bout appeared at the New York and Chicago boat shows in 1961. After the boat show circuit, Evinrude sold the Heli-Bout to Brooks Stevens and it was displayed in the Brooks Stevens Museum for many years. It then passed through a couple private collectors and has appeared at various shows and events. The last known owner was Tom Annunziata.

Great message from France today.
Thanks Stephane..

Hello Lars,

I am Stephane, French, passionate about Johnson and Evinrude.

My father was a Johnson dealer from 1969 to 2005, so I grew up in the family workshop, my passion comes from there.

I am following the topic on the history of OMC in racing with great interest, you are all fascinating to read.

Recently I acquired two magnificent engines: a 1984 Evinrude 2.6 XP, like new 180 hours of operation with complete instrumentation and throttle as if it came out of the box! I think it would look good on my 1987 Ring 20C, but it's already mounted with a modified Ficht 225Ho.

And a Johnson 75 Stinger from 1976, in the same condition as the Evinrude XP, I'm not sure the Stinger is finished breaking in.

I am trying in my small way to safeguard the OMC heritage, by restoring engines from the 1930s until today.

Looking forward to reading you.

Stephane

I was at OMC school in Atlanta not long after the V8 production engine came out. The class was on break and we were talking about different stuff with the instructors. I made the suggestion that they make an I/O by putting fuel injection on a V8 powerhead and couple it to a Cobra. I will never forget the look on their faces because they agreed that was a cool idea. Like one of them said, it would have a great power to weight ratio.

Attended a conference where engineers from Kodak were there in the late 90's. They didn't have much to say other than the company was deeply pre-occupied with trying to re-invent itself. Digital age issued a death warrant on camera film and photo copiers. All the corner shops which developed photo film disappeared too. Cameras? My smart phone takes vastly better pics than my 35mm Yashica ever did and fits in my pocket?

Dammit, Lars you got something against Fujimo lol all the cameras and films are out of business. Hell you don’t see any beer commercials on boats anymore or cigarette commercials. The good old days are gone Mr. Seebold got old. Yeah they’re still Formula One but all we can do is watch it’s a whole young generation, I think we’re about two generations away from, what we used to be by the way great pictures you’re still second to Fujimo but please take that as a compliment. Was the intent of using camelback cowlings a myth or a fact of just plain styling? Supposedly camelbacks helped with lateral crabbing in strong cross winds? I noticed that all curent F1 hulls don't use camelbacks anymore?

The trend started 1975..in the UIM ON & OZ class..Molinari built them also. Kind of ugly in my opinion and the trend did not last long..

I don’t know about the Camelback theory whether it was effective and across wind or not. I’m not an expert on wind tunnel flow as I never had an expensive one time to play with different designs. All of the changes in my boats for trial and error and testing. I think anything above the actual deck of the boat that smooths out the airflow and gives a little downward pressure to counteract lift. As speed increases, is a positive thing in design nowadays you can get a program and a 3-D modeling on computer and experiment and change stuff without ever having to test. It’s a whole New World.

As I stated over on another post, I was able to attend the OSF meeting this year. Been wanting to for couple of years, but scheduling with the federal rallies would not let it happen since I needed some service work on a propeller I was able to work it out. Funny thing déjà vu when I pulled up to Wilson and Custom Marine I knew I had them there before, but damned if I could remember why when or what for. I had to call my friend, Tom Chandler, who drove boy GN boats and he said you dumb ass do used to take propellers up there to get worked on. It’s amazing how much do you think you remember and you really forgot. I’m just thankful that I was able to get to one of these get together’s thank you, Jackie.

Even David Burgess tried camelback with a few UIM OE class boats 1976..did not help at all and the camelback design was gone.

An impressive start for MTI boats in the Stock 450 class at the RWO World Championship in Key West, FL, with a podium sweep on day 1! In addition to the fantastic performance, it's worth mentioning that Taylor Scism and John Tomlinson delivered an outstanding performance, securing third place in the competition.

EVINRUDE ‘JETSTREAM’ DREAM BOAT

In the 50’s and 60’s, Evinrude produced a string of seven “concept boats” (aka Dream Boats) destined for display at National Boat Shows across the USA – all designed by Evinrude’s stylist Brooks Stevens.
EXOTIC #3 – Of the three most exotic Dream Boats (Heli-Bout helicopter-like boat, Flying Saucer & Jetstream), the 1960 Jetstream was the most practical and could actually run like a typical boat. Built on a V-hull with a transom mounted 50hp Evinrude Starflite V4, its most unique feature was the curved plastic bubble windshield which enclosed the cockpit. Dual outrigger sponsons, each with dual headlights, added an additional futuristic touch. (Note that the sponsons could be retracted for transport.) Stevens' imagination was reigned-in a bit for this Dream Boat to demonstrate a concept that was actually possible – albeit still quite expensive. This was the third concept that cost over $100,000 in today’s dollars to build. (Heli-Bout and Flying Saucer were posted previously.)
WHERE IS IT NOW? - Photos of the completed Flying Saucer boat & Heli-Bout have circulated on the internet for some time. Brooks Stevens’ drawings of the Jetstream along with other exotic concepts also circulated but we didn’t know if it was actually built for boat shows until I uncovered the photos below. However. I can’t find any record of its current existence. If you have a lead, let us know.
The annual issue of concept boats ended in 1962 when the line of OMC boats were introduced at the New York National Motor Boat Show.

Hey Steverino..look close at your picture with boat #85..I added a red arrow..its an inboard..Maybe good old Jackie..!!
The #85 boat with the 2.0 litre looper Evinrude crashed bad early in the race if I remember right.
I also remember all the testing in Brugge before the Paris race 1976. I drove a factory OE boat and Paul Kalb was in over his head with all the boats testing in Brugge.

Well..Jackie I have no interest argue with you about this but the fact is the UIM F1 World Series V6 2 liter race in Chalon, France 1991 was not a FONDA race.

Have a cold Stella instead..
Very strange seeing as how the Fonda series ran until 1993 . —- OMC had gone ,after losing millions—- San Germano and Cees Had nowhere to go——— hi- jack the Fonda Series was the obvious choice.
Ill give that you know lots of “ FACTS” about OMC——- but you’re knowledge of MERCURY is strictly limited ! Mines a large malt Lasse——— cheers

https://www.screamandfly.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=451293&d=1571766982
“FACT”. Is Lasse — in the ten years of the FONDA series [WHICH WAS LIMITED TO MOTORS OF TWO LITRES ]. OMC ONLY EVER ONE ONE HEAT ——-CEES MUNICH. HE WAS FAST— BUT UNRELIABLE —— HE PARKED THE BOAT AND MOTOR AFTER THE FIRST HEAT AND RETIRED !!!!!!!!!! [NEVER TO RETURN]. OMC WAS ALWAYS KNOWN AS “THE OLD MOTOR COMPANY”. DUE TO THE LACK OF ANY NEW DEVELOPMEN “FACT”
One time they bought into the old WANKEL company —— but like every other company that took out a licence —-failed miserably !!!!! Simply cost them a shed load of money!!!!

Like one of them said, it would have a great power to weight ratio.

i noticed a few v6 merc lay down parts at Merc school in oz once...

Thank you @Lake X Kid (https://www.screamandfly.com/member.php?u=67246)

This man (picture) is the reason for me visiting Lake of the Ozarks for the first time 1993.
Mr. Bill told me about Lake of the Ozarks in the early eighties at a race in Europe..(Probably Paris 6 hours)
He use to have a condo here and Tim is living here permanently.

As always Mr. Bill was here yesterday and so much fun to see him. Mr. Bill is getting up there in age and in my opinion the best ever racer still promoting the sport.
Tim's wife Debbie Seebold took this picture yesterday.

Well..we did go out boating with Mr. Bill same weekend in his pontoon.
Love him more than any other boat racer..you don't get any better than him..

Got to see Mr. Bill Seebold, and his son Tim at the OFF meeting this year at Mark Wilson‘s place. Been at least 25 years since I’ve seen him maybe 30 at the Miami Marine Stadium he’s doing well. I was just a pleasure to shake his hand son Tim is taking good care of him, as I said before in a previous post on the Seebold showed up in Miami you damn sure weren’t getting first and sometimes it would just mess to leave your equipment on the trailer

Hells teeth Lassie i will give you that one ——— most ever in JONRUDE V8 F1 SERIES !!!!!!!! Less than the average turnout in the ten years of FONDA RACING !!!!!!!!!!!
Let’s not dwell on the past——It was a long time ago !!!!!! We buried the hatchet , so may i wish you and Karina a very happy thanksgiving.
