2.5 Cutting out

I have a '96 2.5 260 and I started having a problem with the motor cutting out. It was almost like the ignition was cutting out. It started happening in shorter spans as I tried to make it back to the trailer. Once I had it back on the trailer and started it again, I could see that it was not pumping any water. Was the cutting out due to the engine getting too hot? Any ideas on what it could be and what might be the fix?

I had the same proplem with a 95 260 it end up being the crank trigger some times if you do not have the resister type spark plugs with a {digital ECU} the motor will cut out that happened to me with my 2000 2.5 drag

I have the correct plugs. It ran fine for a day and a half, and then started cutting out. The motor was hot, but I was still able to touch it. Like I said, the cutting out got progressively worse. Anyone have any other suggestions?

I talked to Alan Stoker today and he said it may just be a low battery...has anyone ever experienced this cutting out when their battery was low?

what the others mentioned, replace or (borrow 1st) another EFI harness and see what you have. If she hangs tight, get a new harness assy.
