I am building a river motor, using it on a small 17,action marine boat, turnng the motor no more than 7,500,would you use the small connecting rods or large ones? I think they are 625-5250,I am not drag racing the boat and relize the small rods are better for that. But am also looking for reliability,I am also planning on using the promarine pistons with these.

Well, I've seen the threads that say if you keep it under 7500 rpm, the small rods will do.

Personally, with the money I invested in my motor, I didn't want ones that "would do", so I used the big rods. They are supposed to be noticeably slower accelerating than the small rods, but I didn't notice it.

Also, the big rods give peace of mind that they are not coming apart. Another thing, the bigger rod in the crank area means better stuffing - again a not-so-noticeable thing, but hell, it all adds up.
