I would say try a bravo or Rev -4 prop if you could get your hands on one ?

I had him work a 27p T1 for my 202 champion, bow lift is nothing short of incredible

I have a champion as well I run. 25 tempest prop I had to lift motor to 2.75 inch to pad now I can barley keep the boat in the water. I had to adjust in 1/8" increments tell I found that sweet spot.

Had a champ 20' back in the day (25 years ago) with a pro-v 150 on it...way underpowered. Had lots of trouble finding a prop for that combination. Tried a buddy's High Five (old merc 5 blade) and it was a different boat...shot out of the hole, turned like Ferrari and carried the bow. Sacrificed a few mph on the big end but I wasn't going to be breaking any speed records anyways so it was a fair tradeoff to me. They are cheap too...I still have a it. I run it on my current boat when I fish shallow marsh cuz I don't care if I trash it (mud)...but it has thick blades on it and is still in excellent shape. Current boat comes out of the hole completely out of the water, lands and then takes off like a top fueler. Can't trim it much at all cuz of all the bow lift. Fun prop to goof off with...

jon...Just wondering what your results were when you tried the motor at higher positions? (When you reference 3" to 4.5" below the pad - are you referring to the centerline of the lower unit "bullet" to being 3" to 4.5" below the pad?) You would certainly gain speed and help move onto the pad with motor raised higher!

Had a mean 17 way back in the early 80s. It loved a big chopper. Also the High 5 was a good fishing prop on my Paramount.

It runs the best at 3" to 2 7/8 7 mph on top end I did have to mess with the plugs a little in the pro. I took a day and just dedicated it to set up you be amazed what easing that motor does. With the correct prop
