BRP must be sh*****ng bropken glass with all the company's out there producing 2 stroke oil for the e-tecs running at 100 to 1.
I cant see them being very happy with company's letting boaters know they can use other oils instead of =XD 100 !!!!

here is one such company selling oil that is rated for the etecs running the 100 to 1 program.

I doubt they care... they aren't in the oil business; just putting their name on somebody else's oil and doubling the price. If there weren't so many suckers who think they're buying "Evinrude" or "Mercury" oil; they wouldn't sell any. :nonod:

If the old brass of OMC were still in charge it would bother them. They put out service bulletins warning against using certain brands of oil.

We got some cases of oil with our 115 HO Etec when we bought it 4 years ago. There is lots left. The oil consumption is very low. BRP does not make oil, but they might have specifications for what they buy. When our stash runs out I will stick with the factory stuff. At 40:1 I don't feel the same way about my 225 Promax.

What's the price of the stuff compared to BRP? Their website shows only one place you can get it in the U.S., not like it's widely available.

As far as BRP being worried..... heck, they don't care. There are hundreds of oils out there that claim to run on all engines. Heck, crappy, cheap oil does them a favor if the engine blows up; they test the residual oil on the engine part and if it don't come up as theirs, no warranty.

Not if it meets whatever standard they require in the owner's manual...or they have to give you their OEM oil for free. :D

yes it still meets tcw3.
the point is, who else says on their product about ok for use in E-tecs !!!
I have not seen that on stated anything else.

BRP might not make the oil, but how many people think they can only use the one product is the thing.
with this company stating its for use in e-tecs opens up a whole new thing for other companies to follow.

more companies offering an oil for the e-tec might bring down the daft price of xd50 and xd100 .

Doesnt matter what it says on the packet except the tcw 3
Perhaps penrite in oz has the contract to make the oil for brp?

With the history of penrite being what it is I wouldn't doubt that it's every bit as good if not better than XD100. Just because BRP charges like it's made of unicorn blood and fairy piss doesn't mean it is.

Not really. I don't own an etec but my understanding is there are two settings in the computer. One for using TCW3 and the other for XD100. Even using XD100, I hear a lot leave it set to TCW3 for the more generous oiling. Unless you really hate smoke there seems little reason to run at 100:1.

But yes, XD100 is TCW3. But just any TCW3 is not same as XD100. No idea about this stuff. I sure hope it is better than the lean mix Scamsoil.

Maybe they are saying you need tcw3 but it needs to be 100% synthetic yet there is no spec for that

We accidentally found out that you can run penzoil on he xd100 setting. normally we run xd100 on the 50 setting for a bit more oil.

In my experience the Dfi merc oil is the same color, same smell and has the smoke free properties as xd100. I bet it comes from the same damn building

Does anyone know who makes the 2 stroke oil for each mota co? Was wondering if if they are all custom blended or just the same oil under a different brand ? Gary

Custom blended
BP used to make merc oil in oz and caltex did omc i think.
Bp guys said its not like their product but this was a few versions ago.
Hence i am guessing penrite do brp in oz so they know whats in it so they can sell their own label and make the claim.
Might even be doing it with brp blessing to keep the punters happy

Seems Mercury sources oil from a large number of blenders - look at the long list of different TC-W3 certifications on a bottle of Premium Plus. Each most likely represents a different product with a different specification.

I doubt they care... they aren't in the oil business; just putting their name on somebody else's oil and doubling the price.

That is why they care. They can charge a ridiculous premium on the XD-100 oil due to the reduced consumption compared to TC-W3.

With a competitive market for XD-100 compatible oil, BRP's premium over the compatible oils goes down to the amount that a sucker is willing to pay for the Evinrude name on the bottle.

I wondering what some of you think XD100 sells for? Three gallon case is less than $100.

A X-OMC racer who is a member of AOMCI has claimed that the XD100 burns just as clean as Redline Racing oil. Mentioned in the article he wrote for the Outboarder is that a tunnel racer he knows uses the XD100 @ 50:1 in a mota that spins 9000 rpm while racing. If this is correct it is very impressive! Gary
