I was going to wait till end of the season but the old Bridgeport didn't wanna wait .....new paint ...new interior with a new layout..new floor..and new power ....all on the way ....my first time doing a project this big so if you guys see me doing something stupid don't be too hard on me but let me know please .....I got the power head off and disassembled and stoped there until I decide what I'm doing for power ...stripped almost all the paint off it had many layers....cut a weak spot out of the floor but other than one spot right in the center of the floor the boat is really solid...and I took all the rigging out ....at some point it had been moved over to Center steer I am going to put it back on the side...I'll keep posting pictures as I go and like I said let me know if you guys see me making a big mistake

372739372740 I did a little more work to the boat tonight ....... a few things that caught my attention I was wondering if someone on here could help me out the first thing is the crack across the top of the transom.... I can take a few more pictures if I need to but I was wondering if you guys think it was from being repaired or if that is where the two have come together originally ???and what should I use to fix it ...or just seal it up good and put an aluminum angle on it like it had??? The second thing I can go to the back of the hull and lift it up no problem it's not very heavy but when I go to the front I almost can't lift it an inch.... so I started looking around and I noticed on the left and the right the first 3feet or so is filled with foam...I'm sure that's what is making it so damn heavy ...I'm thinking I need to wire brush or grind all of that out my question is do I need to replace it or just take it out and leave it empty ? ...... thanks for all the input guys I'll keep posting pics

I had to use cardboard cut outs to see how I wanted my dash ....I don't know if it's the best way but it worked 372801 ....I think I found the best way to remove the old foam that was spayed way up in the front372802. ....attach your wire brush to any tool you want then attach said tool to your teen age son
then attach said tool to your teen age son
I knew they had to be good for something. That pic of your transom looked an awful lot like my Eagle's transom before I applied the saw. The deeper I went the wetter it was. I hope you have better luck.

Is the bottom of the splash well glassed to the inside of the transom? If not do it. I would at least fill the top crack of the trans with some epoxy to seal and give a little strength. Better yet, grind it back and glass the area closed and skip the trim.

the epoxy that they had put across the top had started to break and crack ...I grinded it back about a half inch until I got to Good Wood and then I packed it with chop and resin ......and on the inside the splash well is not connected.....if you don't mind explain a little more on the how I should connected it?.....

Make some 8'' strips of 17oz biaxial and run it all the way around the seam. 4" on the trans side and 4'' on the splash well side. Ties in the hull to the deck. Knees, if you don't have them would be good now too.

Cool thanks for the info .....I'll connect the splash well tonight.....I've been thinking about the knees.....I've seen them done different ways but like I said in the beginning I'm kind of new at this big of a project should i glass them in permanently or have a plate Fab. For the transom with knees build in ?........if we are talking about the same thing

Knees connect the inner transom face the under side of the splash well and the floor/stringers. Kind of a boxing in of the back of the boat running fore and aft. Add some glass (1/4'') where the bolts go thru on the inside and forget the plates. Just use some oversize washers. Plate on the outside is your choice. I don't like them myself.
