I found what I'm guessing is a 70's timeline mon ark ski boat in a garage. It's an I/o model. Solid boat but the out drive is off and partially taken apart The seats need redone also otherwise a decent looking boat. Question is. How much is it worth as is. And is it worth fixing up. Thanks for any help. The pic is of a similar one I found online. The actual boat is a shade of brown with metal flake. Needs shined and waxed but is solid

Condition is EVERYTHING!!!

With the outdrive all tore apart expect $1000 worth of repair rite off the bat.
The boat in that picture is from mid 1980s to early 90s.

Older 70s fiberglass boats arou d the St Louis area are fairley plentifull to buy that cost $1000 - $1500 that are water ready. Just turn the key and go boating for $1500.
Starting repairing boats gets lots of money really fast.

All true, but brown with flake is awesome.

I wouldn't touch it. Those older I/O boats are every where and not worth much running. Lots of repairs on those.

If you want to fix up an old boat do a direct drive, or an outboard. They're much easier to work on and find parts, and won't cost you quite as much.

I think that boat is epic looking. If the structure is not too bad, I would definitely restore it.

I can only imagine what getting the oil filter off that POS is like. With any luck it's a 4 cylinder. At that I'd pull the motor out and send that foam filled wrapped with sh*tty plywood and held together with carpet staples pile to the dump.

But I thought that was the BEST way to build a boat !? !? !? I've been doing it all wrong then... hahaha.

I was thinking of putting a bass seat up on my rear cowl of my STV just like the one on the first photo. Now I see its been done so Im not gonna be a copy cat. Looks like Im back to a saddle and reigns.

Glass Monarks are terrible boats.

Woot negative rep. You Monark owners are tougher than a skater owner with bad tanks. :)
