Anyone have any pictures of there 24 skater with 15 inch motors looking for pictures of transom area please? Also does any know the part number or have link to offshore clamp ram bushings and through bolt that goes threw the swivel and ram? Here a picture of my progress so far I'm currently 2 inches lower than the previous 20inch 280s have a few ways to get 3 more inches. Trying to be in water in 2 weeks.368150

A lot of time, thinking, and customization went into converting to 15" motors.
Big thanks to Mario at IPM for the great ideas and work

Your more than likely going to have to machine down the jackplates. My 28 came w/ 15" 280's and the CMC Jackplates were machined down a lot especially the side that had the side rams. Are you doing side mounted rams or front mounted? There probably won't be clearance with the front mounted rams. Boat looks awesome!

Front mount rams are not an option with stock transom unless you have 8" plates. Transom pickups and 15.5" 36 herrings you should only have to go down 2.5" from where 280s were :D

Thank you so much thats exactly what I needed I have almost the same jack plates also. Did you notice a difference going from 20s to 15s?

Johnny said he had to go down 1 3/4 from where dago was because of omc tiller arm. You buy the herrings ill run them

I thought it was about 1" when I swapped your 21 to a merc clamp I'll measure it. Maybe we should have taken that ~1" off the top of the swivel tube instead of the bottom to drop the arm down.

Looks like with 15" mids there is not much room to trim the engines up very far.

i am missing the reason for all the custom work and expense. you probably could shed as much weight and keep power. by running a exhaust relief in a bass 20 inch mid. 15 offshore mid is heavy. unless you are racing around a course i dont think you will notice the lower center line. and as a big reason not to do it is. why dunk your power heads every time you come off plane? my current boat as well as last boat with twins would be getting power heads raised if they were to be moved at all.

They do handle better with the lower c.g. I have had 6 different 24s over the years with a lot of different power configurations. The 15 inch 280s was the best turning and best balanced one of all. They will really turn hard for such a small boat with twins. If I ever get mine done, I will show you how to make a fast run up the Suwanee-it will have old wore out XS motors on it but they will be low...

You dont want to run bass mids kn a skater unless you want to loose a lower unit

I told you that you want very little blade surface in the tunnel and run the water ramps. This boat ran 115 to 118 every time depending on fuel level. The boat was rigged at Skater new then Dixon put the 280s on it when he owned it.

Here just wanted to post some pictures only ran it once and motors are to high no water pressure after 40mph. It rips out of the hole and has what feels like twice the acceleration as the 280s one motor in brand new rebuilt so got say below 4k for an hour or so. Need to move the batteries to bow and sand and paint the cowls before she's all done373377

Did you cut the water Ramps in bottom. Helps tremendously with pressure. There a diagram floating around to cut them in.

No I don't have ramps. How much do you have to cut?

Ryan,

Take piece of 1 1/2 inch pvc with 80 grit sand paper on it and run it fore to aft directly in front of your case. Do a little, test, do a little more, test, do a-- while you get it...
