With the arrival of his beautiful new RGR28, my buddy Dan is selling me his pristine 2007 Allison SS2000 with a 2005 15" 2.5/280. The boat and motor were rigged new together by a local guy out here in Northern California. Dan hasn't had the motor on a DDT, but he's guessing it only has between 100-150 hours on it (he's the second owner) - and it is 100% unmolested. This is the third boat I've bought from Dan, as his rigs are always meticulously taken care of and immaculate. He said this was probably the most fun-to-drive boat he's ever owned, but now can't wait to get into the driver's seat of his new 28. I've never driven an Allison, but I'm looking forward to the learning curve!

It's about time you got a real boat. :)

The SS2000 is the most fun boat I have driven, but I've certainly sampled less than some here. Conventional wisdom is that smaller props are easier to drive, and 4 blades are easier. That matches my experience.

Glad its staying within the family so that you can still take his brother for an occasional ride LOL...

It's got a 28" Lightning ET on it, Dan said it's really easy to drive.

This little boat IS an arrow! I'm not gonna' know what to do having just one of those pointy things out in front of me instead of two!

No doubt that it would be more fun to drive, but I want to be able to go long distance at higher cruise speeds (80ish). I also don't want to blow the motor up, as I will probably be selling this rig at the end of Summer. It's sort-of a fill-in toy for me while my Skater is back at the factory this year.

Call the boys from hydromotive, and have them make you a 26p knob cut out of a chopper 2. It was my favorite river runner prop ever on my xb2002. Congrats on the ally, once you learn how to drive one, it's a Zen like experience.:D

I kinda figured you couldn't go the entire summer without some type of speed fix. Congrats

It should be easy to drive, mine is. But mine was an adventure at first. Ally's are not hard to drive, just different.

Nice boat for shallow water, smaller lakes, sorta like short daytonas and dcbs.

Well, my initiation into the Allison owner's club came to an abrupt halt when the girlfriend said she wouldn't set foot in that little rocket! When we first got together, she'd go out in my Mirage, then the 21' Trick, and so on. But after the last 4 years of not having anything smaller than the 28, she said she won't get in a little performance boat again. So, unless I want to boat by myself a lot of the time, I'm better off not buying another little hot rod. My loss is your guy's gain though, as Dan will soon be posting his ultra-clean Allison in the classifieds here. I've attached some more pics of the rigging and engine for those that might have an interest in it........

Sometimes you have to ride alone... Go out a couple times without her and she will reconsider her meal ticket status and the lifestyle you offer her- Went through this with my Ex-wife.

Not sure what is so pathetic about not wanting to own another boat that I will always have to boat by myself in? I've already got a boat that I drive only by myself, I don't need another one.......

That won't work with this one Joe - she makes her own $$$. Lisa's an RN manager for Kaiser Permanente. I'm just glad that she's happy with cruising 100+ everywhere we go in the big boats. And she does better out in the big water than my buddies do!

sensible decision. the delta is often too rough for such a low freeboard boat. Teague prefers his 28 speedster or f32 for those waters. skater too much overkill for pleasure use.

That one I would not expect her to be exited about but the Allison is a passenger boat that you can easily both enjoy. You have a balance in place that I never had with your racing and I talk big but it does suck when they don't want to go with you.

I would sell the BB hydro and keep the 280SS. The SS is more prctical and just as much fun in the acceleration department all most. That is one sweet looking direct drive i must say though. What speeds in the 1/4 does your Blown Hydro run?

Hahaha, comparing the acceleration of an Allison to a BAH is like comparing a Honda Civic to a new Tesla "Ludicrous Mode". ;) Being an open cockpit hydro, we are limited to 1,000' and 165mph. The best pass so far has been a 5.03 @165.4mph (on the 9,200rpm rev-limiter @ 800'). It pulls just over 3Gs going down the track. If we were allowed to run 1,320' and wanted to run a big mph, we could put a big gear in it and run 200mph.
