Interests me too. Always saw it advertised but never knew what it meant. Good luck.

The ff is a 2.5 200 block. It is the better one to have. The ee block was the first 2.5 200 and had the small exhaust chest. The ff block is very close to a promax

So will you see FF or EE stamped on the edge of the block around the date code. So when someone says I have an FF block. it can be verified somehow with a mark? Not to be a funny guy but what if I took out my stamps and whacked two FF's in the appropriate place. Is there another way to tell the truth?

That would be pretty easy to tell considering there's already letters stamped there. Its not like they're worth a ton of money, just don't see somebody counterfeiting 200 blocks.

Plus the FF block will have a production date of 1996 or later. The exhaust chest is much better on the FF and looks identical to the Promax & 260. They are a better platform to tinker with.

So if you were doing extensive behind the liner porting and exhaust porting would it matter which block you had then? Like is there more material in the right places with an FF block? I only ask because I am trying to learn stuff. Thanks

What about the CC block?

The letter help identify HP of the block for the MOST part. This is what I have came up with. BB-150, CC-175, DD-2.4 200, EE-2.5 200, FF-2.5 large chest fishing and promax, NN-225 promax, LL-260, OO-280 then you have some blocks with single ID like F-91 2.5 200 carb 7 pedal, G-2.4 XR4. These are all engines I have here in front of me.

The FF block starting coming out around in mid 95 and had a little different port map than the EE blocks. They are a desirable block if your are looking for top end performance but depending on your needs. I sometimes use the EE blocks because they will have better bottom end due to the small chest and slightly lower porting. The CC block is a 175 block. You can make a 150 (BB block) into a 260 as all the material is there to remove to mimic it to include install the nik sleeves. I have a CC block here with nik sleeves in it that Ruck done extensive work on .Just my experiences.

My Jon Wright block is a CC block. But that's as far as it goes. The rest is on the wild side.

It's not about what you start out with but what you end up with. Does it still have the idle reliefs or did they replace all the sleeves?

I ordered a replacement sleeve for an ff block and the sleeve that showed up from advanced said 2.5 promax on the wrapper. Fishing motor with race sleeves  I was told the only difference is the promax gets an aggressive .050 chamfer (plus 7 pedal big chest etc etc.)

Actually both the ff 200 and 225pm have nearly a .100 champher and the port map is same and have the same chest with the exception of large exhaust exit on lower of block.

good info guys, i ask because i have a ff block ( 96 200 efi) and in theory if i have rod slots cut, throw a 7 petal front on it, open up the exhaust at the bottom of the block to match a promax, and swap out the computer for a a17 i should be pretty close to a 225 pro max?
any difference in the tuner and plates?

You would be a painted 225 pm with bleeder elbows. You would also have to modify the exhaust opening on your base plate.
