There were two of them down here for a while . Not sure of the mfg , but both were black and the rigging and interior was flawless .
One of them had 225 Pro Max's . Not sure of who built it , maybe Willie in Miami , who sold it to Ryan . After that , no clue who got it . I remember it having a pretty good size tunnel extension . Hard to see it blowing over , anything is possible .
The other one is / was Big wave Dave's . It did have 280's , I haven't seen him in a while . This is from the Suwannee a few years ago ......

Stream is tellin the truth . It was like his first or second time out with the boat and it was far from optimum . I spoke to him a month or two later and best I remember , he said motor height and props made a night and day difference .
That weekend though , with the motors high and 3 blade cleavers , it was getting so much transom lift it would start bucking the props out of the water .

:iagree: with ^ and that proper setup with seat time all being key factors on any boat!
You may also want to add Esox's dad, RacerX (Jeff C), he also owned his boat.
Just do not remember any 21 Skaters were setup with SS 15" motors hence Steve's ?.
Heck the acceleration and speed on these boats with 15 or 20" motors make them a weapon....:D

the tail weight must make the hop pretty bad during cruise, I remember dave wanting to get rid of the boat because of it, let alone trying to run one offshore

Yes i talked to buzzin. My dad did own mine years ago and it was a missle and i was very impressed how it ate up boat chop. I dont remeber it having porpoise as it is set up well and also has a k plane which takes porpoise out when water is flat. Like my dad said just takes seat time and the boats great. Im just trying to figure out if 15 inch mids will swamp the motors coming off plane. It will need 5 inches of setback for the 15's to clear the transom and some bigger wedges. The motors now are bolted straight to the boat. The 15 inch mids will help improve balance getting the motors lower and the look factor haha. Just dont know hoe setback will effect the boat.

I glad I'm still alive to laugh about that sick fast POS. One will need a lot of seat time to tame it, Swannee was a trip, like riding a bull never knew what it would throw at you.

I do recall my son figuring it out on day 2 and smoking everything we came across. It was a lot more fun to look at than drive or ride in for that matter. It bucked so much we broke the K planes numerous times.

Essox, yours ran 136 mph on 2 radar guns at Alum Creek Shootout in 2002 or 2003 with some left in it. That whole day I continually ran into into water psi problems and was eating impellers with a pair of Alex HLedin 390+ hp F1 motors on it. I put 3 sets of water pumps in it that day at the shootout and every time it went past 125, I was blowing the impellers out of it. I would leave the 20" on it, make some power and don't mess with the set up as long as it is the same as when I sold it to your dad. I have owned 3 of the original 21's with twins and this one rode and ran the best. Really had no bad habits. That boat ran 118 all day long with stock 260's. Enjoy it and be safe. :D

It had 2.4's on it when we had it. It would run 112-114 range most of the time. That boat had through hull pick ups, so a couple of times we ran them really high and saw a few more mph, but it wanted to hook with the motors real high. That boat had the batteries in the back and they needed to be up front like Essox boat was or still is.

If money was not the issue. I would do 280's from Marty at Diamond modded to 335 hp on it. I have had several sets of Marty's 335 motors and love them. To have the alternator on the 280's and Marty's punch, is an awesome combination.

Yea, I heard it got crashed. Made me sick. Dave had it running good. The other 21' I had with twins was wrecked to. It was a red and white one, not sure if it was totaled or not. Essox's was not wrecked when I had it and I have never heard of it being crashed.

I never bought a boat from Todd. I bought it from looser and took it to Todd to see what was wrong with it. The best it ran was 113 but it was a nightmare. Unbelievable porpoise! NO tunnel tab and the boat was repaired. The second one I bought from a gentleman in New Jersey and that boat ran like Todds/Loosers....The best I ran was 127.....Later, Dave

By the way...Hey Todd,

I purchased the Black Twin 15" 225 21' Skater that Willy restored back in 2010.

Great boat for rough chop, Tunnel tab extension sure does help the porpoise.

Looking to put it up for sale and purchase 24' Skater once Todd starts building them.

Good Luck & Ride Safe

You don't want to run out there in a 21. You don't see the swells that are taking place but they are almost always there along with the cross wind before the traps. Tom always made it look simple in his 24 but as you are waiting in the staging area, you realize that its not flat.

Seat of the pants, it jumps out of the hole better, with seat out. I never run the hatch because I've removed the front brackets.

What I have done on my 21's when I wanted to leave the seat out and did not want to deal with the race hatch is snap in a custom canvas piece I had made with snaps from the rear deck to rear seat mounting base. Worked like a champ!
It served in 2 ways.
A- kept the air out
B- kept anything loose in the cockpit to smatch into any component back there.
