It's been a couple years since I had mine open; but I think you can put any cable you want in there; there's just a slot that the nut goes in, it doesn't use the "barrel" thingies.

I have an old L&S catalog at work; I'll try to look tomorrow to see if there was a different p/n for different motors.

Yeah, but OMC and Merc throttles work differently. One pulls, the other pushes. So even if the cable can be switched, it may not work on the Mercury.

There's a cable entry on each end... on mine the hand throttle pulls the foot throttle shuttle which pulls the carbs open... I imagine you could just switch the cables front-to-back and it would work opposite.

The L&S throttle is "universal" but they did sell special "low friction" cables to use with it on OMC, Merc, whatever.

Inside there is a machined "shuttle" block and the cable nuts can either be "trapped" in the A or C slot or free to move in the B slot. (As well as I can recall.)

The cable to the carbs is trapped in the A slot so the butterflies always move with the pedal. The cable to the hand control is free in the longer B slot so that the hand control doesn't move when you use the foot pedal.

When you use the hand control the nut pulls back to A and then the hand control moves the foot control which moves the butterflies on the carbs. (Picture would be like 1/2 throttle on the foot feed, hand throttle closed.)

So, example, in the picture above you're driving at half throttle using the foot feed... if you want to "cruise control" using the hand throttle you would move the hand throttle forward and the upper nut would move from B to A where it would contact the shuttle... then you could take your foot off the pedal and it will stay depressed halfway.

If you want to stop, you pull back the hand throttle and the whole shuttle will move to the right with both cable nuts still at A and the pedal will return to idle with the hand control.

great tks., so,i suppose i will have to take it apart, and see if a regular ol' gen 1 merc cable fits,I knew it could be hooked to a control box,but no need for that feature.

I think it's just a nyloc nut... just have to find the right thread for the cable you have; if I remember right.

well it does have a nice cable on it,definitely nicer than any standard omc cable I have seen. it is very smooth,,Likely i wont find a proper merc cable,I have several hot foots,so,may let it go to somebody that could use it.

If you order teleflex cables the have adapters for Mercury,OMC, ETC.
Home so will look for the install instructions later today.
