I have a complete inline 6 Mercury with a 15" mid section, and factory louvered cowling that I had put back for a project that I recently sold.. I really hate to see it go, but I don't currently have a need for it so I thought I'd offer it up & see what happens.
Includes the plug-in wiring harness, and earlier model (white) control box with embossed Kiekhaefer logo as well.
It is "decaled" as a 115, but that being said and Not claiming to be an outboard guy in anyway, I'm all but positive that the decals have been changed at some point.. I say that for two reasons, #1: I don't know of Mercury ever putting a louvered cowling on a 115 that I'm aware of, and #2: You can clearly see (even in the pics) that the decals on the cowling are shifted, or the "rotation" is off by a fairly good amount..
Why would anybody change the decals to make it look like a 115 ?? simple,, The ole lake racer sandbagging, Ins. or Coastguard rating purposes, ect..
I believe it to be an early 70's model. I spent some time trying to chase numbers down a few years back, but never really came up with anything conclusive.. The "boss" or area on the block where the serial number is located has nothing on it, and has Never had a number on it indicating that it was a factory replacement at some point in time (easy to tell it's not been tampered with)
I have not tried starting it, pretty much all I've done is looked over the wiring (wiring all looks really good), pulled each plug, sprayed a little fogging oil in each cylinder and turned it over by hand.. Does it run, will it run ? I honestly don't know.. I was told by the dude I purchased it from a few years back that he seen & heard it run the summer prior to me purchasing it, but that's his word not mine so use you own discernment, ect. I'm not the type to over promise on something like this, so ?
It's sitting high & dry here at in my shop in Athens, TN (37303) and not taking up much space, but at the same time I don't see myself using it for a day orso, so as I said, I thought I'd toss it up and see what happens.
Come check it out in person, Txt me real offer, Email offer, whatever.. I'm a self employed "one man show" so I don't get to spend much time here so txt is the beet me and quickest way to get me, but feel free to email, or even call, but if you don't get me right away Please leave a voicemail if you want a returned call ;-) I'm easy cat to get along with and usually very flexible as far as time & schedule wise
Thanks for looking, Scott
