Does anyone know what type of fluid is in this brand of gauges, there are like 3 choices. Can I even fill it up?

Does anyone else have to throttle with their left foot?

Does this shifter have a brand name, looks as old as the boat. Its hidden behind the side panel so you don't smack it while racing. It works great, just wondering if its unique maybe home made or anything you've seen before.

My CLE, Its a 4 hole and it has the long skinny window. Does this mean anything? is it better or worse than the 2 hole or just the same. has a plastic water pump case.

1) just buy a GPS Livorsi and matching gauges - lose the pitot tube hanging on the back of your boat
2) yes, my dads old Hydrostream - took about three minutes to get used to it
Dont know about questions 3 & 4

I'm pretty sure those shifters are still being made. My understanding is that the two hole CLE was the earlier version and the holes could get plugged easier and thus a loss of cooling so the four hole CLE came out. If you run clean water there should be no problem with either. I've seen several boats with the left sided foot throttle. Once you get used to it, no big deal.

I thought some CLE's had shorter fatter cover plates.
As for left foot throttle. Ya, I got used to it in about 2 minutes.
Actually the pilot tube flew off, It was like a steel pipe that hooked forward. home made, factory. I don't know but I never seen one like that myself. Here it is before it broke off.

Also here is a partial close up of the long skinny cover I have. Just thought they had shorter fatter cover plates too, just wondering what the difference would have been if the guts are identical, or maybe not. Mine does ratchet. I figured RH means Right Hand. No clue what the other numbers are.

Early 4 hole CLE, probably has the drain on the case not the carrier.

the fluid level in the gauge is at the right height, it should not be full as it is a dampening agent and is probably mineral spirits JMO

The fluid level was just above the 7 when i got the boat 2yrs ago. I live in MN so not likely the hot arid temperature vaporized it.

So is the drain on the case or carrier?
I'm still learning so don't laugh.

Every liquid-filled gauge I have ever seen was filled with glycerin; which you can get at any pharmacy.

The screw right between the water inlets and the front of the skeg... the carrier (bearing carrier) is where the propshaft is sticking out of.

So I have an early case with the drain hole on the carrier?

Drain on the case. Have to pull the prop to drain one on the carrier.

Pitot tube looks like the standard flattened bent tube pitot of the day. Would bend the second you hit a blade of grass in the water.

Maybe thats why it ripped off my boat. I heard it flopping around, speedo was jumping and all went smooth and quiet.
