outboards with the right "stuff" certainly SCREAM at 9000 RPM and so JET boats must be the FLY thing. You know; them F15 and 16's, F18's, Y-22's and Migs of all sorts is all powered by JETS! But I never seen any of those Jets with pontoon floats on. Do you "squirts" have like retractable 007 wings and such? With Outboards, we do the 1000' speed runs, quarter mile stuff, 660' drags and alike. What do you JET boat guys do? Zero to a 1000 feet high in 12 seconds? Do ya "shut down" or "Come down"? Well, finally I know why Lifeline sells a parachute racing lifejacket!
