We know electric outboards will be in our future, BUT I Aint Buying into this just yet....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CIJ8e56eEwM

Why the through hub exhaust prop and LU, and the key switch has a spring return to run...like it needs to?

Also about a minute into the video there is a side view of a take off, you can see exhaust (or something :p) coming out the hub on the prop just like any outboard would have....;)

Not to mention most of the video is muted...

Entertaining at best!

I agree, entertaining at best. Might have to call BS on this one, what do you think James?

Yes, that is what I was thinking...A Hoax Video.

The Ski Nautique is looking more realistic. Small boat with enough power to get skiers up and going.

However 3-4 skier sets doesn't sound like a long time, with a 4.5 hour recharge.

Which is probably why we haven't heard anything about it in the last 5 years? However I do know that the batteries I can buy now are much better than what I could buy 5 years ago ; maybe at some point it will be viable.

If the eFusion video was a hoax, Campion boats was in on it: http://campionboats.com/campion-runs-worlds-most-powerful-electric-outboard/

In case they try to claim they invented the Electric Outboard.

I find it amazing how much it sounds like a real outboard.

At 1:07 you can see what looks like exhaust streaming from the center of the hub during the take off .

I imagine it looks like a conventional outboard key switch and all because all of it is except the actual powerhead.
Just like the diesel outboard that was in development. No need to design a new lower unit etc.

I'm still not believing it.
Those articles are over 3+ years old, and going to their website to look at what they offer.....no electric outboard.

http://campionboats.com/

Don't you think the large money outboard companies would be on the leading edge of this tech? Merc, Yamaha, OMC?

Think how much more efficient the lower units could be designed without all that exhaust heat channeled through it.

I'm sure it will be in our future.

The batteries weighed 400# and cost $29,000 (I think I read)... just because nobody would buy one doesn't mean they didn't build it.

Electric motors have 100% torque at 0 rpm... the performance would be staggering; like a lot of the new electric supercars... the cost is too.

Yes, my point exactly.

The tech is just not there yet. But will be.

I still question the validity of the video, for the reasons in the OP and post #9. There is exhaust flowing from the motor through that hub.
