View Full Version : Best high speed prop for an HST?
I have a 14 1/4 by 29 SRX on my HST right now.
What is the prop of choice that will get me close to 100 mph w/ 270 + hp?

balzy's reply should answer your question.
I am sure that someone will have some other ideas though.

Don't know who worked it, but it works real nice. For top ending it's a 32 lab cleaver and I just picked up a 34. It seems a 27 or 29 srx works good too, but I did'nt have each one long enough to really get a good comparison.

Boz,
My HST ran well with a 29 SRX.
Are you close to 100 now? If so, send it to DAH Custom Prop shop. He known to work wonders on the SRX. He did a nice job on mine.

Im not sure it was sort of thrown together as a experiment.
I would suspect somewhere around 240.
The combination was the following.
Tired 1992 Production shortblock
2.4 BP carbs .082 (134&6) .084 (2&5) jetting
4 petal cages with tdr reeds on a crossdrilled intake
32cc heads of my design
HP. divider plate (no bump)
41941 tuner (2.4 200) mounted on a -1" milled adapter plate
Timed at 25 degrees
mounted on a fabed by me 15" exhaust housing using a very nice 2 hole cle
the 27 was the biggest i had at the time ( Im sure it would have went faster with a 29 with less rpms)
The boat also had 12" of additional setback an ran with negative trim.
It is now over a year later and almost water ready
with much bottom work
Widened lifting rails & sponson bottoms (same width front to back) I also moved the dash 8" aft and instslled wire rope steering
as for the motor
2.5 efi around 300 hp
sportmaster ect.
I also have seen a lot of DAH SRXs @http://www.bassboatcentral.com/props4sale1.htm
