K guys need your help again so I rebuilt the motor and the first 3 times I took it out it ran great then I got it timed when I took it out after that it has a miss so out of the hole it misses a little then it runs fine from 2000rpm to 4000rpm with no misses then u go to wide open it starts missing when it hits 5000 and more and it is a quick multiple miss fires till I let off and the rpms drop below 4000 it definitely feels like electrical because of the quick miss just need a starting point. I also put brand new spark plugs in with no change but I screwd in the plastic hand on the idle timing almost the whole way in it ran with less misses but was still there

Plastic only control's idle timing it does not change anything else. Since you had a kill problem before that appeared to be a wiring issue have you checked the kill wires to make sure you don't have any bleed to the pack? So you did not time the engine the first 3 outings? Have you run a compression check? What plugs did you install and gap? What do the plugs look like?

As for timing yes I just left it were it was for the first 3 runs and then when I had it broke in enough to hold it at 5000rpms I got it timed I put champion ql77jc4 I think didn't check the gap I'll have to check to make sure when I get home and I'll check the compression too when I get home but it starts and runs great other than the miss and I'll put a pic of the plugs when I get there

And I'm not sure what u mean about bleed to the pack

Could be a power pack. I've got one that causes misfire at anything over 5000. I keep it as a spare.

When u say power pack do you mean the box with all the wiring in it

Sorry just looked through parts and it is the box with the wiring do you know what causes that to happen or a way I can test it

Bleed, when the key is in the on position take an ohm meter to see if any continuity to ground on the black/yellow wires. Check for a double spark? How old is the stator? Do you have a peak reading volt meter?

The stator is as far as I know original it's the one that can on the Motor when I bought it and it sat in a field for 13years before I got it i will check tomorrow for bleed in the black/yellow wires and I don't have a peak reading volt meter but I can get one and how would I check for double spark

mark tdc with a marker and mark flywheel for cyl 1 thru 6 timing light at rpm look to see if you have more than the cyl you are looking for , example cyl 2 should only see the no2 if you see 4 or 6 on top of the 2 you are dubble firing ......call me I know you want it for the bog bash ....we will get it to go ..

While your'e looking at things, look under the flywheel and make sure all the magnets are evenly spaced, none touching eachother

Already check that all are in tack and haven't move the stator visually has no burns marks and no leaking so by eye it should b fine tomorrow I'm going to make sure all the grounds on the coils and power Pak are clean as Frank suggested to me over the phone then we are taking it to the water with a wheel and narrow down what cylinder is missing then go from there we are both leaning towards power Pak but we will see

K guys today Frank and I took my boat to the launch with the test wheel hooked up and 2 test lights and after some wide open runs came to the conclusion that all the cylinders were missfirering from time to time. So we pulled it out and switched out the power pack with a spare that Frank had put it back it and it ran great with no misses thanks again Frank for all your help I'll let everyone know how it works when I take it out this weekend
