It seems it was developed for large inboards swinging large props. It supposedly shifts with 20% less impact due to the soft rubber outer hub cushioning under low power then is locks solid under full load.
The traditional hub is considered solid as well, but shifts harsher...
Does the traditional hub give any more at an under load strike or are they apples to apples when under power?
Is there a plastic hub kit like that is available for the 1" shafts that will save gears? Or are these the only two choices?
If you are typically using 27-33p props which hub would be your choice?

Thank you in advance!

Looks like a cool deal:

I was going to ask the same question. I see no technical reason this won't work just as well as the solid flo-torq and anything that can take some of the shock out of the gear case is a good thing.
Hard to believe no one has used it yet.

Reading the literature on it, my understanding is that because the Verados are so quiet the noise made during shifting is more noticeable or intrusive to the CC crowd that buy most of them. I think the benefit to the mechanical parts is very small given the loads at idle during shifting, and since it's a solid hub under power no portection there either.

It's not designed for inboards, the hub only works for outboard gearcases that use the 1.25" HD propshaft, which uses no thrust washer. It's not meant to be sacrificial like the Flo Torq 2 if you strike something. Under load, the prop engages the metal portion of the hub, and it behaves just like the solid metal HD hub.
The solid metal and the SSR are the only 2 options for the 1.25" HD gearcases.

Finally tried it, granted I had a small prop on for the holiday rough water..... Wonderfully softer/quieter shifting. More so than expected
