My son and I took his boat to dinner tonight. This is one of the special memory makers that we enjoy together (he is 12 so I won't have his undivided attention for much longer) and hanging out with dad will be boring-This is on the St. Johns river North of DeLand. If anyone wants to come make this run give me a call anytime, there are 4 dinner spots to hit and the water is like this 99% of the time.

I'd say at least 80 % of the people on here have the same story....we all had a whaler as kids. I had my first 13' at 12 yrs old till 28. Looks like a perfect cruise to dinner

I had a 13 with 35 Galaxy on it. All we want for our kids is more then what we had. This is a 15 which has the deeper V, the strakes were extended all of the way back, Doug Wright added a running pad, bonded and glassed the whole perimeter "rub rail", and built a glass seat back that ties the sides together for stiffness. After paint, Randy "Wildman" rigged it all with Livorsi gauges, a nice garmin, Hyd. steering, livorsi shifter & wheel, and a billet fire extinguisher. The motor is a custom 15 in midsection created by Chaz with a bobs cone & pick-up and an optimax power head.

Bottom line is that he has no idea what I have provided for him but he will appreciate it some day when he goes to do the same for his son.

You nailed it here! I didn't realize till I was much older how much time, effort and money went into maintaining the family sea ray and my boats as a kid. Boating also provided me with another positive as a kid....it kept me out of trouble. While kids at school were failing out, getting into drugs or just general mischief. ...I was told "any of that crap and I'll sell your boat". That would have been worse than a beatin.
