Anyone seen a Sportmaster propshaft broken like this?

Customer said he was @ 90+ and chopped the throttle. (STV Euro/260).

Also, I need a propshaft for Sportmaster, (small shaft).

Tell him to quit shifting it with the motor running.

Is it true across the board where if you shift while the engine is running you increase the chances of the prop shaft failing?

that suks
usually they snap at the thrust washer taper,,,,
but can snap anywhere past the splines
last weekend while offshore I snapped off the whole lower end,,,,,
offshore housing busted off at the 2 stud holes by water pump and sheered off the others
offshore housing junk now and gearcase and prop are on 50' bottom of the bay,,,dammit,,,,,,

A lot of this stuff we beat on is ~25 years old, a bell only rings so many times.

It is always started in gear.

It's probably missing a blade.

Small shafts for the Sportmaster are about as rare as hen's teeth I think. Seems like a lot of us would like to have one.
