I am going to install an electric fuel pump if I cannot clean up my bog with jetting (some have said it helps). Looking for opinions on what some feel is the best option for carb V6 OMC (or Merc carb V6 since I have one of those going on another boat if I ever finish it). I have read just about every single post that I can find but when it comes to carter pumps the posts don't list many part numbers/model of pumps. I am not looking to break the bank so the options I think would work are below, and yes fuel filters will be part of it since anything getting into the pump can cause issues.
Holley Red
Holley Blue with reg that comes with it.
Carter P4070
Carter P4389
Carter P4594
Carter P4600

Myself, I would run the Holley blue which is about 14psi and regulate it down to whatever you need for your motor. I think it gives you more control of your fuel pressure that a 7psi internally regulated pump.

Thanks for the reply. Anyone use a Carter P4389 that is 4-6 psi - 72 gph? So many posts about Holley VS Carter on reliability and noise. Either one I would guess will be sufficient for my application.

Which one of the Carters can draw from a top feed tank? Lifting about 9 inches total from the bottom of the tank then push to the Separator and then motor.

I got a red you can buy if you decide on that....I have always ran them with zero issues on OMCs but you should have the fuel line out of the tank connected at back and on the bottom, if at all possible. They are noisy buy your boat isn't what I would call "quiet" lol! You NEED compression too.....even if its another 15-20psi! Let me know if I can help....you have my number bud

+1 on the blue pump with the reg.
I have run one for years - zero problems.
Fine tuning the pressure with the reg. might be the solution for you.

from what I have read, and again read on posts, the carter will pull fuel better than a holley but both will pull from the top of a fuel tank. Just should put the fuel pump below the top of the fuel tank and close as you can to the tank.

Carter pumps tend to run with less noise.

At least on mine, the noise of a fuel pump won't be very noticeable with that TOP out back.
