300xs No Start

New starter. New solenoid and new wire to starter. Ran the boat, tried to restart after being docked for 5 mins and nothing happened. Pulled the Cowl, starter and solenoid were hot, could not touch or hold hand on them.
Ignition switch is good, start switch is good. No blown fuses, 12.7 volts to the start solenoid. When I jumped the solenoid the starter would spin but not engage. Water was rough today. Any thoughts? Seems strange because everything was just replaced and tightened down. Thanks in advance.

Starter stayed engaged and cooked itself as well as solenoid....replace em again....

This is the second starter and solenoid. Possible ground issue?

Somethings causing the starter to engage when the motors running....i have seen it before when guys wire things wrong or if something gets crossed..
