ore RPMI've got a 1990, 2.4 200. 32 cc heads but otherwise pretty stock. Light flywheel. WM carbs. Louvered cowl. no oil injection. 145-147 compression all holes. It's hanging on an older Mod V style light bass boat.

I'm looking to have a little fun on some of the local sandbars on weekends and looking for more RPM. I have Chris Carson race reeds that will be here next week. A buddy has a 15" Super Mag offshore mid that he's not using that he will let me use (I'm 20" now). He also has a 2.0 lower. I have several questions and hope for some advice.

1. Can I mount my motor on his 2.5 2-pc adapter? I know the ports are larger on the 2.5, will this hurt my motor much on bottom or mid range? Do I really NEED the 2.4 1-pc adapter?

2. Do carb spacers really make a difference?

3. I have access to a 260 exhaust divider from a 2.5 Would this help?

I'd like to turn 8500. Just short runs. Maybe 800' or 1,000 ft or so.

Can someone who had been here before me give me suggestions that really do make a difference? I'm not really in a position to send it off or do milling and such.

Thanks!

Your 2.4 will work on the 2.5 mid.The ports may be the same size.IMO carb spacers not worth the effort.Bring your timing to 25*use good fuel, and prop for around 7000----@8500 you will be well past peak, and soon be shopping for another PH JMO I don't think the the 260 divider fits.

Not enough timing for sand bar drag racing 660' -800'
i beleive all the roundy round guys and SS guys use the HP divided plate and HP coils.

Indo t know for sure but seems like that's what I've seen.

without cutting and milling of poprts and chest it goes off port map at 7000 and peaks around 6500.... DONOT set timing above 25 degrees for 92 octane use prop for 7300 and live with the drop in rpm above that on a stock production 2.4 you wont gain anything... go look up T-Rex's Cherry 2.4 build if you want to see RPM that build routinely saw 8+k but it had been pretty heavily massaged port wise

over 25 is a good way to explode motor with detonation unless your using good fuel and some serious fuel and ignition management...
