SOLD thanks S&F!!
1997 260 powerhead for sale needs rebuild and is in pieces now. It a 4 bolt, small rod and digital ecm. I had it taken apart by AIM in Ottawa and this is what he messaged me as to what they saw when taking it apart.
HI Brad, got the motor apart, Mic'd the bores there is only one straight one nic is OK but most bores are .003-.004 out of round at TDC and .002-.003 at bdc with a taper of .001 .002. It will live at that BUT the pistons are side pinned and at least three of them have had the pin move and scrape the bores a little, something went through #6 and peppered that piston a little as well as the head but we can shave those and it should clean up but the pistons is so-so. If you are replacing pistons I would do the bores as well. This is the late 4 bolt block with the 280 style top bearing and the crank is balanced but it has the later std V-6 rods not the big rods, The injectors will need to be cleaned for sure and one of them replaced as the connection area is rotten from corrosion. The reeds are two stage and not boyesen, I have to check the reed cages to make sure they are flat and true but I will lap those when I put it back together, I would also suggest we replace the regulator with the 56 pis just because it's been sitting so long. You will need bearings, seals and gaskets for sure, the top and bottom crank bearing are shot and whatever oil they were running in this it was garbage all the crank journals are burnt from it lots of polishing to do.
Asking $1700 picked up or $1950 shipped anywhere in North America. message, call or text 514.944.0123 (tel:514.944.0123)
