Im have two 2.0 l mercurys that I am rebuilding, one is what I would call Gen I block (has port cover bosses) and one is a Gen II (more like a 2.4 block). Both have the on liner head bolts. What I want to know is about is the exhaust dividers. The Gen I part # is78305 and the Gen II # is 87321, both appear to be very restrictive, I have a have a Gen I 2.4 divider part # 76637 and a Gen II 2.4 exhaust divider #87326, will the 2.4 dividers work better ?
thanks

Yes it will work, Im sure you will loose some torque but gain rpm. I put 2.4 dividers with horizontal fronts on all of my 2.0L, they run real well

Thanks for the reply, lots of views but no comments, thought I was going to have to post pics.
That's what I was thinking, you will loose the "stuffing effect" in the exhaust chest but gain RPM on the top end
I will now have to locate another(have one) horizontal front and intake. What carbs do run on your 2 liters

What tuners do you have? Bigger divided with small restrictive tuners won't do a whole lot.

take a look at the two piece plates from any consumer motor you will see all the bottoms are the same IE: the exhaust holes are the same size

They are not all the same, my 200 pm and my 225 pm have different size ports. There are ridges in the port making them smaller on the 200. Size at mouth is same but shape and port full through size is different on mine.

Die grinder fixed it right up though :)

first, anything pre '83 is first generation...

use tha one that matches tha block exhaust size tha best.. tha 2.0 should be tha largest and rectangle shaped (unless its tha one real big odd-ball size) where tha 2.4 is almost square and smaller.....
