Thank you so much everyone. That was a very fun shoot. The helicopter was flying as fast as it could to keep up with some of those boats. We were in a Robinson R44 Raven (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robinson_R44), which is a very small helicopter. That shot could have been better; I was using a lens that turned out to be awful. After switching to a different lens and using a polarizer, I had much better results. Believe it or not, I'm still shooting with the very same camera body, 7 years later.
Same boat, same race:

Just Curious....whats in the cooler ? :leaving:
Must be water and samiches. ;)
Sure are a lot of rouge waves...lots of cool air time and the water looks pretty flat... almost mirror flat
Great Pictures..bet you had almost as much fun shooting the pics as they were having flying the boat.

It was very hot that day and it was also a very long trip, so I would guess it was mainly water.

We also saw these whales near Bimini Island. That was very cool. The water really was this deep blue color. It was amazing - I've never seen anything like it before. It was just an incredible day.

Hey..That's my old stomping grounds... I used to use Black Point Marina and Homestead Bayfront Park to put my boats in to fish, camp or whatever the agenda was. Those arrows just about line up with Black Point Marina. Fished many a day in the blue water on up into Bimini. That run is about 60ish miles one way if memory serves me...it was over 20 years ago.
Thank you for the map !! Brings back memories!
James.... missing my ole faithful 22' North American CC twin 2.4 200's..:)
