so in order to NOT confuse myself. I'm going to ask a few rookie questions. But before I do. Just a few things about my engine.
Its clearly an evinrude xp body. There is a stamp down by the hydraulics that says MOD. No. E200STLCCM SER. No. G 1742421. BUT... The little frost plug thing on the block says J200STLCUA followed by G7457733. So one says XP200 and the other one mean 200GT? Or maybe the XP's had J motors, I don't know do you? The lower unit also has side doors that come off to allow more exhaust to exit the lower unit. The motor sounds like a built big block, It will hit 8k on the water with ease. I'm afraid to go higher but it sure wants too and I have it mounted to my 88 Stratos 200 VT Rocket. I don't know what the top end is yet. Its jack plated, land and Sea nose cone, foot throttle and a 26 pitch raker H.O. Prop. Oh yeah forgot to mention that the VRO is disconnected.
So about Jets. I keep seeing people posting numbers with three jet sizes. My carbs only have two jets. What am I missing? To confuse me even more my top jet is a 39 and my bottom jet is a 35, should the top one be bigger than the bottom one? How come everyone else is pushing jets in the 60's and 70's. All my carbs are jetted the same. Why would my jets be so small but yet my motor hauls asky. Where is this 3rd jet everyone talks about. Low, Mid and High. I only have two. Also I just got done ultrasonic cleaning my carbs and throttle bodies and changing out the fuel lines, looking pretty in there.
Ok, so those skinny little fuel lines that go next to the carbs but not to the carbs. The middle one on the steering wheel side has a factory weird looking metal pin/plug to it but all the other 5 have those tiny hoses. There is also a rubber nipple plug on the intake right between all the carbs. Maybe that was for VRO, I don't know.
