First off I have ran nothing but Klotz KL-333 in my 1996 ProMax since break-in.
This actually cost me more then running a lot of other oils that I have easier access to, but I have always felt the extra $ was worth it to run Klotz.
Now I have just heard a few people mention that they have heard or seen engines that have ran Klotz with some really nasty things to crank journals and bearings.
In your experience have you seen or heard anything like this?
I am sold on Klotz, but hearing this has me concerned to say the least.
Thanks for you responses and experience.

I have never heard of any problems with the oil myself and I love the smell.. But remember that people that run Klotz normally run the hell out of the motors and it is the nut between the steering wheel and the drivers seat that tears up bearings plus the high RPM's... I have seen people run Klotz in stock carb 200 fishing motors and since there boat smells like a race boat they try and run them 8000 RPM's...

I have been running klotz for 5 years in the same fishin mota, doing things to it that never should be done. Its still alive, so even if there is damage (which I doubt seriously) I caused it. You will never convince me that the only reason this motor still lives is because of the oil....Oil is cheaper than engine parts....

I've been running Klotz R50 for over 15 years. I think that's part number KL-105. I believe that the KL-333 is their TCW-3 lubricant, isn't it? If so, I know of a couple of racers that use it in their SST120 boats. I have also used it because the dealer I buy the R50 from was out and I didn't have time to wait on another shippment. I don't think you'll have any problems due to using the Klotz lubricant.

I run Klotz KL333. Have been for years, My motors are CLEAN when tore down. I won't change from Klots products (I may run the R50 this year, though). The KL333 is a synthetic TCW3 spec., good to 9000rpms+. Some who use the Bean Oil, may, over time develop the mess you are talking about. The Bean Oil is meant for strictly racing, and very high RPM's, and if not run hard all the time, can "gum" up (this is what a Klotz tech told me). We tore a motor down recently where the guy used stricly the Klotz Bean Oil, and used the boat recreationally, and the exhaust divider had at least 1/4" of buildup, had to scrape it off with a paint scraper, after it was power washed.
I would stick with the Klotz KL333, or R50. If you bought a 55 gal drum, the price comes WAY down, but then you got a lot of money tied up in oil. You might want to see if you can split a drum with a few other local guys.

that's all i run in my motors...i swear by it...if you're hearing horror stories about someone's motor, it aint because of klotz kl-333 oil....i turn over 10K every trip out and spray nos on a regular basis...parts and bearings look perfect when i tear down...i actually tried another klotz oil that has 20% bean oil already mixed in it...it had a higher flash point and a higher film strength rating, so i figured it would be better...i'm sure it was a good oil, but it was dirty...tops of the pistons always looked black and nasty...went back to kl-333 and motor looks clean again and runs great...dmac
