Hello I have a 1987 mercury 2.4 200 I pulled of my hydrostream and put on my Stratos 201 bass boat it used to have an offshore mid which gave me fits about prop choices. I would list a serial number but it doesn't have one. I have finally installed a normal bass mid from a 2.0 150 xr2 and motor works a lot better but I believe I made a huge mistake when I swapped Mids. The 2.4 exhaust adapter was modified to dump water outside of can so instead of dealing with that I put it on the 2.0 adapter. I worry now that I have negatively affected the performance of my motor. The motor now is very finicky about taking off if exhaust reliefs are submerged. I must take off at level trim now if I tuck the motor down it wont spin up. It either goes and is fine or refuses to spin up. My question is would the 2.0 adapter cause enough exhaust restriction on holeshot to cause this issue? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I just used everything from the 2.0 and yes it was a 150. The exhaust ports in the adapter where it bolted to power head were the exact same size.

I have a late 81 2.0 l 150 fishing motor. Are you saying that it is one of the better exhaust set-ups on a stock V6?I was thinking about selling the mid and lower because the crank is shot and it's not big enough for my boat to bother building. If it's a good one maybe I'll just hang onto it.

Sorry for the hijack.

Thanks for the reply.PH is off already.I bought this laying in a shed and when I got it running I could hear the upper brg was bad.Tore it down to see how bad it was and it's not worth building to me.I'm thinking I'll just sit on it for now.Was going sell off what I could and try to get some money back to put toward a bigger motor.
