Hello out there. After a great deal of blood sweat and tears I'm rounding the last turn I hope with my old Checkmate and Mercury 150. With some great help from this site I've been all through the engine, electrical, carburetion, cooling, everything short of internal power head things and I'm down to the last important component the throttle. What is the best manual or maybe thread here to enlighten one on how to tear down/rebuild these throttle assemblies, maybe lubricate the cables? Nothing has been touched since 1985 and I've learned to be cautious disassembling old unknown mechanisms. :D 345009

They are pretty basic. Remove the back to expose the mecanism and lubricate with merc 2-4-C or similar grease. Make sure micro switch for neutral safety still works. I dont know of a source for tech info or parts.

Some of the old Seloc manuals covered controls as did factory Merc manuals. Pic of the control?

345062 I'll be looking into some of those other manuals. What I'm using now is a Clymer 45-225 hp from '72-'89. How much does this throttle affect the idle and timing, having trouble with it stalling out rich. I had to make a wooden plate to hold this assembly and found things in a bind. I'm thinking I need to adjust the carb linkages again. It seems a slippery thing to get an old Mercury outboard to run just right.

Might have a NOS one of those at work.
