I have a 260 setup that the dump hose poped off last season . After that motor wouldnt go over 4k. i bought new switch boxes and now it will run up to 5-6k but on steam wheel im +64 somethings a miss.
normal operation is around +10 on wheel. i hear a slight detonation pop like timing is off. or maybe need a new coil. any ideas

Send the acu to Brucato to be tested and re mapped. Don't mess around. Also give them the injectors to be cleaned , consideration your compression, leak down, reeds, timing, air temp sensor is all in good health

What would cause a acu map to change? I just called ocean outboard and told them i changed out the switch boxes but they were 2.5 200 boxes not 260 boxes . They said they are different . maybe this is why?
motor has around 60 hours 145lb. per cylinder.

Boxes? I didn't know efi engines had switch boxes, thought the coils were all controlled by the ecm. do you have the serial # could help shed some light.

all production 2.0, 2.4, 2.5's up till 2000 have switch box 'lectrics........

i've turned "NON 260" (a12's) boxes north of 8 grand on several motors with no problems... jus sayin'

have you checked fuel pressure? could have just been a coincidence that it crapped out at the same time?

How do the plugs look? I found adjusting the individual perimeters of the Brucato had a far greater effect then the speed wheel. I mainly use the speed wheel to richen fuel on initial start up or on longer runs at FT(by richening mixture). The idle perimeter is very easy to dial in. The PT adjustment had the most positive results for me. I did it in small increments until I liked what I saw. This gave me a nice base for cylinder 1&2 with me adding fuel to 3&4 and 5&6. 3&4 wanting about 1/2 of what 5&6 took. It takes a bit of trial and error but doing it conservatively took a bit of time but the results were amazing. (overall I took about 4% out on PT and the motor is day and night different).
