Thought for anyone who hasn't seen one it would be interesting.
Can't shrink the pictures down any less memory so they are pretty big.
Lost power yesterday before I woke up.
This picture is after got home.
You here snaps and pops sometimes thunder when the large branches collapse. Last nite saw blue flash when I let the dog in. The branches were acting as fuses.

Got power back just as I got home yesterday. This morning got called in to plow 4am. My car has aircraft landing lights and will light up quite a distance, but with ice on them this range was vastly reduced. This picture is after got home but it was a slalom course down this road. Came home the other way!
3 ambulances passed me on the way in.
1 road closed -most trafffic lights out. Idiots yesterday were driving through them, today they were stopping.

This picture shows why the trees and branchs take out the lines.
the branch should be at that same angle going up.
When it's sunny it's the most beatiful storm you'll ever see.
BTW found out 2 buckets of water will melt my windshield and side windows. This kind of ice would have taken 1/2 an hour to turn it into a tank driver and about an hour to clear what the water did.
The ice on my hood was 1/2" thick yesterday morning, yesterday going home and today. I shattered it off 3 times.

As you can see it's getting warmer now. This dog thinks 0 degrees is a heat wave so that don't say much. Funny watching her walk since everthing is an ice skating rink.
half the trees are melting now, hopefully it's over.
It stalled over us since the lake affect was generating rain all day yesterday. Temp was around 31.8, go figure.

And just one more for interest.
Took this last week? when I took the say when picture.
This beach isn't stone. It's 2' deep at the minimum of zebra mussels. A foreign animal that invaded this area and has no natural predator here. There only the size of a finger nail so you can imagine just how many must be just here.
They grow on the shore line but also water intakes like for water supplies, power plants and cooling system on boats.
They got here from a cargo ship using water as ballast, from the med.

This is a good story.
I had no power yestiddy when I woke up- went into work.
Came back and I have power. Hardly an inconvenience. Of course none of the rest of my family has power and guess who works for the power company?
Now all the other companies are supplying aid that don't need their line crews. I once heard they got crews from Hawaii. That had to be a desperate need of manpower.

heck when we do get winter weather around here thats all we do get is a ice storm usually .. we rarely ever see snow... that ice will screw up alot of things.. the fun part is watching the people that have a hard time driving on dry pavement trying to drive in the ice....fortunately we rarely have winter preciptitation..
. was only about 78 degrees saturday here..hehe...looked like this....
